⁶ in which was written:

¹⁹ But when Sanballat^(A) the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem^(B) the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us.^(C) “What is this you are doing?” they asked. “Are you rebelling against the king?”

¹⁶ keeping a clear conscience,^(A) so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.^(B)

⁸ Why not say—as some slanderously claim that we say—“Let us do evil that good may result”?^(A) Their condemnation is just!

¹² Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds^(A) and glorify God^(B) on the day he visits us.

¹³ Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority:^(C) whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority,

⁸ through glory and dishonor,^(A) bad report^(B) and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors;^(C)

¹³ When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat^(A) at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic^(B) is Gabbatha).

² And they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation.^(A) He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar^(B) and claims to be Messiah, a king.”^(C)

¹¹ “Blessed are you when people insult you,^(A) persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.^(B)
