^26 (A)“Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you ^(B)and cast your law behind their back ^(C)and killed your prophets, who ^(D)had warned them in order to turn them back to you, ^(E)and they committed great blasphemies.

⁹ but you have done evil above all who were before you and have gone and ^(A)made for yourself other gods and ^(B)metal images, provoking me to anger, and ^(C)have cast me behind your back,

Israel's Unfaithfulness

^11 (A)And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals. ^12 (B)And they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. ^(C)They went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and ^(D)bowed down to them. ^(E)And they provoked the Lord to anger.

¹⁸ Even ^(A)when they had made for themselves a golden^[a] calf and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ ^(B)and had committed great blasphemies,

^52 (A)Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of ^(B)the Righteous One, ^(C)whom you have now betrayed and murdered,
