⁶³ Also, of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai (who had taken a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).

⁶¹ Also, of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, and the sons of ^(A)Barzillai (who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name). ⁶² These sought their registration among those enrolled in the genealogies, but they were not found there, and ^(B)so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. ⁶³ The ^(C)governor told them that they were not ^(D)to partake of the most holy food, until there should be a priest to consult ^(E)Urim and Thummim.

⁷ But deal loyally with the sons of ^(A)Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be ^(B)among those who eat at your table, ^(C)for with such loyalty^[a] they met me when I fled from Absalom your brother.

³¹ Now ^(A)Barzillai the Gileadite had come down from Rogelim, and he went on with the king to the Jordan, to escort him over the Jordan. ³² Barzillai was a very aged man, eighty years old. ^(B)He had provided the king with food while he stayed at Mahanaim, for he was a very wealthy man. ³³ And the king said to Barzillai, “Come over with me, and I will provide for you with me in Jerusalem.”
