⁹ “Plunder the silver;
    plunder the gold!
There is no end of treasure!
    An abundance of every precious thing!”

¹² The lion has torn enough for his whelps
    and strangled prey for his lionesses;
he has filled his caves with prey
    and his dens with torn flesh.^(A)

¹² They will take your riches
    and plunder your merchandise;
they shall break down your walls
    and destroy your fine houses.
Your stones and timber and soil
    they shall cast into the water.

⁵⁶ for a destroyer has come against her,
    against Babylon;
her warriors are taken;
    their bows are broken,
for the Lord is a God of recompense;
    he will repay in full.^(A)

⁴ Spoil was gathered as the caterpillar gathers;
    as locusts leap, they leaped^[a] upon it.

33 Woe to the destroyer,
    who yourself have not been destroyed;
you treacherous one,
    with whom no one has dealt treacherously!
When you have ceased to destroy,
    you will be destroyed;
and when you have stopped dealing treacherously,
    you will be dealt with treacherously.^(A)
