Nahum 1:3-8

³Yahweh is ^(A)slow to anger and great in power,
And Yahweh will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.

Beth

In ^(B)whirlwind and storm is His way,
And ^(C)clouds are the dust beneath His feet.

Gimel

⁴He ^(D)rebukes the sea and makes it dry;
He dries up all the rivers.
^(E)Bashan and Carmel languish;
The blossoms of Lebanon languish.

He

⁵Mountains ^(F)quake because of Him,

Vav

And the hills ^(G)melt;
Indeed the earth is ^(H)upheaved by His presence,
The ^(I)world and all the inhabitants in it.

Zayin

⁶^(J)Who can stand before His indignation?
Who can endure the ^(K)burning of His anger?

Heth

His ^(L)wrath is poured out like fire,
And the ^(M)rocks are torn down by Him.

Teth

⁷Yahweh is ^(N)good,
A strong defense in the day of distress,

Yodh

And ^(O)He knows those who take refuge in Him.
⁸But with an ^(P)overflowing flood

        the Lord punishes.
    His way is in whirlwind and storm;
        clouds are the dust of his feet.
⁴He can blast the sea and make it dry up;
        he can dry up all the rivers.
    Bashan and Carmel wither;
        the bud of Lebanon withers.
⁵The mountains quake because of him;
        the hills melt away.
The earth heaves before him—
        the world and all who dwell in it.
⁶Who can stand before his indignation?
        Who can confront the heat of his fury?
    His wrath pours out like fire;
        the rocks are shattered because of him.
⁷The Lord is good,
        a haven in a day of distress.
    He acknowledges those who take refuge in him.
⁸With a rushing flood, he will utterly destroy her^[a] place
        and pursue his enemies into darkness.
