2 Gud vakar omsorgsfullt över dem han älskar. Därför hämnas han på alla som skadar dem han älskar, och han utrotar deras fiender.
3 Det tar lång tid innan han blir arg, men när han blir det är hans styrka enorm, och han ser inte mellan fingrarna med synden. Då går han fram som en storm, och molnen är dammet efter hans fötter.
4 På hans befallning blir hav och floder torr mark. Basans och Karmels grönskande ängar vissnar och Libanons blomning tar slut.

The Lord’s Anger Against Nineveh
2 The Lord is a jealous(A) and avenging God;
the Lord takes vengeance(B) and is filled with wrath.
The Lord takes vengeance on his foes
and vents his wrath against his enemies.(C)
3 The Lord is slow to anger(D) but great in power;
the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.(E)
His way is in the whirlwind(F) and the storm,(G)
and clouds(H) are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebukes(I) the sea and dries it up;(J)
he makes all the rivers run dry.
Bashan and Carmel(K) wither
and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.

3 The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
