⁴ The chariots race madly through the streets;
    they rush to and fro through the squares;
their appearance is like torches;
    they dart like lightning.^(A)

² The crack of whip and rumble of wheel,
    galloping horse and bounding chariot!^(A)
3 Horsemen charging,
    flashing sword and glittering spear,
piles of dead,
    heaps of corpses,
dead bodies without end—
    they stumble over the bodies!^(B)

¹⁰ His horses shall be so many
    that their dust shall cover you.
At the noise of cavalry, wheels, and chariots
    your very walls shall shake
when he enters your gates
    like those entering a breached city.^(A)

¹⁵ For the Lord will come in fire
    and his chariots in a whirlwind,^[a]
to vent his anger in fury
    and his rebuke in flames of fire.^(A)
