2 Subió destruidor contra ti; guarda la fortaleza, vigila el camino, cíñete los lomos, refuerza mucho tu poder. 2 Porque Jehová restaurará la gloria de Jacob como la gloria de Israel; porque saqueadores los saquearon, y estropearon sus mugrones.
3 El escudo de sus valientes estará enrojecido, los varones de su ejército vestidos de grana; el carro como fuego de antorchas; el día que se prepare, temblarán las hayas. 4 Los carros se precipitarán a las plazas, con estruendo rodarán por las calles; su aspecto será como antorchas encendidas, correrán como relámpagos. 5 Se acordará él de sus valientes; se atropellarán en su marcha; se apresurarán a su muro, y la defensa se preparará. 6 Las puertas de los ríos se abrirán, y el palacio será destruido. 7 Y la reina será cautiva; mandarán que suba, y sus criadas la llevarán gimiendo como palomas, golpeándose sus pechos. 8 Fue Nínive de tiempo antiguo como estanque de aguas; pero ellos huyen. Dicen: ¡Deteneos, deteneos!; pero ninguno mira. 9 Saquead plata, saquead oro; no hay fin de las riquezas y suntuosidad de toda clase de efectos codiciables.
10 Vacía, agotada y desolada está, y el corazón desfallecido; temblor de rodillas, dolor en las entrañas, rostros demudados. 11 ¿Qué es de la guarida de los leones, y de la majada de los cachorros de los leones, donde se recogía el león y la leona, y los cachorros del león, y no había quien los espantase? 12 El león arrebataba en abundancia para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas, y llenaba de presa sus cavernas, y de robo sus guaridas.

2 Distrugătorul porneşte împotriva ta, Ninive!
Păzeşte-ţi fortificaţiile!
Veghează asupra drumului!
Încinge-ţi coapsele!
Adună-ţi toată puterea!
2 Căci Domnul va reface măreţia lui Iacov
asemenea măreţiei lui Israel de odinioară,
căci i-au jefuit prădătorii
şi le-au distrus butucii de vie.
3 Scuturile vitejilor săi sunt roşii;
războinicii săi sunt îmbrăcaţi în stacojiu.
Oţelul carelor scânteiază ca focul[b]
în ziua pregătirii lor,
iar suliţele sunt agitate[c].
4 Carele aleargă nebuneşte pe drumuri
şi gonesc prin pieţe.
La înfăţişare sunt ca nişte torţe
şi ţâşnesc ca fulgerele.
5 El[d] îşi aduce aminte de cei maiestuoşi ai săi şi îi cheamă,
dar ei se împiedică în mersul lor.
Aceştia[e] aleargă în grabă spre zid
şi aşază zidul de protecţie.[f]
6 Porţile râurilor[g] sunt deschise
şi palatul se prăbuşeşte.
7 E hotărât[h] ca cetatea
să fie dusă în captivitate, să fie luată.
Sclavele ei se vaită ca nişte turturele
şi se bat pe piept.
8 Ninive este ca un iaz plin,
a cărui apă se scurge.
«Staţi! Opriţi-vă!»,
dar nimeni nu se întoarce.
9 «Jefuiţi argintul,
jefuiţi aurul!»
Acolo sunt comori nesfârşite,
o mulţime de tot felul de lucruri preţioase.
10 Este jefuită, pustiită şi devastată!
Inimile se topesc de frică şi genunchii tremură!
Toate coapsele sunt în chin
şi toate feţele au pălit.
11 Unde este acum culcuşul acela al leilor,
locul unde se hrănesc[i] puii de lei,
pe unde umbla leul, leoaica şi puiul de leu,
fără să le fie frică de nimeni?
12 Leul a sfâşiat îndeajuns pentru puii săi
şi a sugrumat destulă pradă pentru leoaicele sale.
El şi-a umplut grotele cu pradă
şi gropile cu carne sfâşiată.
13 «Iată că sunt împotriva ta!
zice Domnul Oştirilor[j].
Îţi voi preface carele în fum,
iar sabia îţi va nimici leii tineri;
îţi voi nimici prada de pe pământ
şi glasul solilor tăi nu va mai fi auzit!»

2 He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.
2 For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.
4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
5 He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.
6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
7 And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
9 Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.

13 Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
