38 Los que acamparán delante del tabernáculo al oriente, delante del tabernáculo de reunión al este, serán Moisés y Aarón y sus hijos, teniendo la guarda del santuario en lugar de los hijos de Israel; y el extraño que se acercare, morirá. 39 Todos los contados de los levitas, que Moisés y Aarón conforme a la palabra de Jehová contaron por sus familias, todos los varones de un mes arriba, fueron veintidós mil.

38 Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east(A) of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the tent of meeting.(B) They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary(C) on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.(D)
39 The total number of Levites counted(E) at the Lord’s command by Moses and Aaron according to their clans, including every male a month old or more, was 22,000.(F)
40 The Lord said to Moses, “Count all the firstborn Israelite males who are a month old or more(G) and make a list of their names.(H)

38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
39 All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the Lord, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.
40 And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.
