10 Moisés oyó cómo los componentes de las distintas familias del pueblo se lamentaban, cada uno a la puerta de su tienda. Esto provocó el estallido de la cólera del Señor, cosa que disgustó mucho a Moisés 11 hasta el punto de decir al Señor:

— ¿Por qué tratas tan mal a tu siervo? ¿Por qué me has retirado tu favor y has puesto la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí? 12 ¿Concebí yo a todo este pueblo? ¿Acaso engendré yo a este pueblo o lo di a luz para que me digas: “Llévalo en tu regazo —como hace la nodriza con el niño de pecho— a la tierra que prometiste con juramento a sus antepasados”?

10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing(A) at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the Lord, “Why have you brought this trouble(B) on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me?(C) 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant,(D) to the land you promised on oath(E) to their ancestors?(F)

10 And Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of the Lord blazed hotly, and in the eyes of Moses it was evil.

11 And Moses said to the Lord, Why have You dealt ill with Your servants? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You lay the burden of all this people on me?

12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that You should say to me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nursing father carries the sucking child, to the land which You swore to their fathers [to give them]?
