Matsoka ndi Mavuto a Moyo Uno

Ndinayangʼananso ndi kuona chipsinjo chimene chimachitika pansi pano:

ndinaona misozi ya anthu opsinjika,
    ndipo iwo alibe owatonthoza;
mphamvu zinali ndi anthu owapsinjawo
    ndipo iwonso analibe owatonthoza.
Ndipo ndinanena kuti akufa,
    amene anafa kale,
ndi osangalala kuposa amoyo,
    amene akanalibe ndi moyo.
Koma wopambana onsewa
    ndi amene sanabadwe,
amene sanaone zoyipa
    zimene chimachitika pansi pano.

Ndipo ndinazindikira kuti ntchito zonse zolemetsa ndiponso ntchito zonse zaluso zimachitika chifukwa choti wina akuchitira nsanje mnzake. Izinso ndi zopandapake, nʼkungodzivuta chabe.

Chitsiru chimangoti manja ake lobodo
    ndi kudzipha chokha ndi njala.
Nʼkwabwino kukhala ndi dzanja limodzi lodzaza uli pa mtendere,
    kuposa kukhala ndi manja awiri odzaza uli pa mavuto,
    ndipo uku nʼkungodzivuta chabe.

Ndinaonanso chinthu china chopanda phindu pansi pano:

Panali munthu amene anali yekhayekha;
    analibe mwana kapena mʼbale.
Ntchito yake yolemetsa sinkatha,
    ndipo maso ake sankakhutitsidwa ndi chuma chake.
Iye anadzifunsa kuti, “Kodi ntchito yosautsayi ndikuyigwirira yani?
    Nanga nʼchifukwa chiyani ndikudzimana chisangalalo?”
Izinso ndi zopandapake,
    zosasangalatsa!

Kukhala awiri nʼkwabwino kuposa kukhala wekha,
    chifukwa ntchito ya anthu awiri ili ndi phindu:
10 Ngati winayo agwa,
    mnzakeyo adzamudzutsa.
Koma tsoka kwa munthu amene agwa
    ndipo alibe wina woti amudzutse!
11 Komanso ngati anthu awiri agona malo amodzi, adzafunditsana.
    Koma nanga mmodzi angadzifunditse yekha?
12 Munthu mmodzi angathe kugonjetsedwa,
    koma anthu awiri akhoza kudziteteza.
Chingwe cha maulusi atatu sichidukirapo.

Kutukuka Nʼkopandapake

13 Wachinyamata wosauka koma wanzeru aposa mfumu yokalamba koma yopusa imene simvanso malangizo. 14 Wachinyamatayo angathe kuchokera ku ndende ndi kudzakhala mfumu, kapena angathe kubadwa wosauka mʼdziko la mfumuyo. 15 Ndipo ndinaona kuti iwo onse amene anakhala ndi moyo ndi kuyenda pansi pano anatsatira wachinyamatayo, amene anatenga malo a mfumu. 16 Mfumu ikhoza kulamulira anthu osawerengeka, komabe itamwalira, palibe amene adzayamikire zomwe mfumuyo inachita. Izinso ndi zopandapake, nʼkungozivuta chabe.

Oppression, Toil, Friendlessness

Again I looked and saw all the oppression(A) that was taking place under the sun:

I saw the tears of the oppressed—
    and they have no comforter;
power was on the side of their oppressors—
    and they have no comforter.(B)
And I declared that the dead,(C)
    who had already died,
are happier than the living,
    who are still alive.(D)
But better than both
    is the one who has never been born,(E)
who has not seen the evil
    that is done under the sun.(F)

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.(G)

Fools fold their hands(H)
    and ruin themselves.
Better one handful with tranquillity
    than two handfuls with toil(I)
    and chasing after the wind.

Again I saw something meaningless under the sun:

There was a man all alone;
    he had neither son nor brother.
There was no end to his toil,
    yet his eyes were not content(J) with his wealth.
“For whom am I toiling,” he asked,
    “and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?”
This too is meaningless—
    a miserable business!

Two are better than one,
    because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
    one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
    and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
    But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Advancement Is Meaningless

13 Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to heed a warning. 14 The youth may have come from prison to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom. 15 I saw that all who lived and walked under the sun followed the youth, the king’s successor. 16 There was no end to all the people who were before them. But those who came later were not pleased with the successor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

于是,我又观察日光之下的一切欺压之事。我看见受欺压的泪流满面,无人安慰。因为欺压者有权有势,所以无人安慰他们。 我为那已死的人庆幸,因为他们比活着的人幸福。 不过,比以上两种人更幸运的是那从未出生的人,他们从未见过日光之下各样的恶行。 我又看见人的一切劳碌和成就原是出于争强好胜。这也是虚空,如同捕风。 愚人游手好闲,最后只能饿死。 拥有不多,心里安宁,胜过拥有很多,仍劳碌捕风。 我又看见日光之下一件虚空的事: 有一个人孤孤单单,没有儿子也没有兄弟,却终身劳碌。他虽然家道丰裕,仍不满足,从未想过“我不停地劳碌,放弃一切享受,究竟是为了谁?”这也是虚空,是一种悲哀。 两个人总比一个人好,因为二人劳碌同得美好的成果。 10 一人跌倒,总有同伴相扶。但孤身一人、跌倒了无人相扶的真悲惨! 11 还有,二人同睡会暖和,一人独睡怎能暖和呢? 12 遭遇攻击,一人独自不能抵挡,二人并肩就能对付。三股拧成的绳子不容易断。 13 贫穷但有智慧的青年,胜过年老、愚昧、不再纳谏的君王。 14 虽然这青年在本国出身贫寒,却能从囚犯成为君王。 15 我看见所有日光之下的人都起来拥护这位代替老君王的青年。 16 拥护他的人不计其数,以后的世代却对他不满。这也是虚空,如同捕风。

Again I saw all the oppressions that are practiced under the sun. Look, the tears of the oppressed—with no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power—with no one to comfort them. And I thought the dead, who have already died, more fortunate than the living, who are still alive; but better than both is the one who has not yet been, and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.

Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from one person’s envy of another. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.[a]

    and consume their own flesh.
Better is a handful with quiet
    than two handfuls with toil,
    and a chasing after wind.[b]

Again, I saw vanity under the sun: the case of solitary individuals, without sons or brothers; yet there is no end to all their toil, and their eyes are never satisfied with riches. “For whom am I toiling,” they ask, “and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is vanity and an unhappy business.

The Value of a Friend

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help. 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.

13 Better is a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king, who will no longer take advice. 14 One can indeed come out of prison to reign, even though born poor in the kingdom. 15 I saw all the living who, moving about under the sun, follow that[c] youth who replaced the king;[d] 16 there was no end to all those people whom he led. Yet those who come later will not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a chasing after wind.[e]
