The Word Became Flesh

1 In the beginning was the Word,^(A) and the Word was with God,^(B) and the Word was God.^(C)

¹⁷ He is before all things,^(A) and in him all things hold together. ¹⁸ And he is the head^(B) of the body, the church;^(C) he is the beginning and the firstborn^(D) from among the dead,^(E) so that in everything he might have the supremacy. ¹⁹ For God was pleased^(F) to have all his fullness^(G) dwell in him,

⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.^(A)

The Incarnation of the Word of Life

1 That which was from the beginning,^(A) which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,^(B) which we have looked at and our hands have touched^(C)—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
