The Lord Will Appear

¹⁴ They will wage war^(A) against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over^(B) them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings^(C)—and with him will be his called, chosen^(D) and faithful followers.”

¹⁴ Since the children have flesh and blood,^(A) he too shared in their humanity^(B) so that by his death he might break the power^(C) of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil^(D)— ¹⁵ and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear^(E) of death.

²⁰ where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.^(A) He has become a high priest^(B) forever, in the order of Melchizedek.^(C)

²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice; I know them,^(A) and they follow me.^{(B) 28} I give them eternal life,^(C) and they shall never perish;^(D) no one will snatch them out of my hand.^{(E) 29} My Father, who has given them to me,^(F) is greater than all^[a];^(G) no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one.”^(H)

³ On that day, when all the nations^(A) of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock^(B) for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure^(C) themselves. ⁴ On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the Lord. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations.^{(D) 5} Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong,^(E) because the Lord Almighty is their God.’

⁶ “On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot^(F) in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume^(G) all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact^(H) in her place.

⁷ “The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah.^{(I) 8} On that day the Lord will shield^(J) those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest^(K) among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God,^(L) like the angel of the Lord going before^(M) them.
