2 Woe to those who devise wickedness
    and evil deeds^[a] on their beds!
When the morning dawns, they perform it,
    because it is in their power.^(A)

⁴ They plot mischief while on their beds;
    they are set on a way that is not good;
    they do not reject evil.^(A)

⁷ The villainies of villains are evil;
    they devise wicked devices
to ruin the poor with lying words,
    even when the plea of the needy is right.^(A)

¹¹ From you one has gone out
    who plots evil against the Lord,
    one who counsels wickedness.^(A)

⁶ For they are kindled^[a] like an oven; their heart burns within them;
    all night their anger smolders;
    in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
⁷ All of them are hot as an oven,
    and they devour their rulers.
All their kings have fallen;
    none of them calls upon me.^(A)

¹⁴ See how they conceive evil
    and are pregnant with mischief
    and bring forth lies.^(A)
15 They make a pit, digging it out,
    and fall into the hole that they have made.^(B)
16 Their mischief returns upon their own heads,
    and on their own heads their violence descends.^(C)
