Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets
    who lead my people astray,
who cry “Peace”
when they have something to eat
but declare war against those
who put nothing into their mouths.(A)
Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision,
and darkness to you, without revelation.
The sun shall go down upon the prophets,
and the day shall be black over them;(B)
the seers shall be disgraced
    and the diviners put to shame;
they shall all cover their lips,
for there is no answer from God.(C)

God’s Judgment against False Prophets

“This is what the Lord says about the prophets
who are causing my people to go astray,
who are calling out ‘Peace’ when they’re being fed,[a]
but who declare war against those who won’t feed them:[b]
‘You will have nights without visions,
    and darkness without prophecy.
The sun will set on the prophets,
and the day will darken for them.
Those who see visions will be put to shame,
and the diviners will be disgraced—every one of them—
they will cover their faces,[c]
because there will be no answer from God.’”
