Micah 2:6-11
Christian Standard Bible
God’s Word Rejected
6 “Quit your preaching,”(A) they[a] preach.
“They should not preach these things;(B)
shame will not overtake us.”[b](C)
7 House of Jacob, should it be asked,
“Is the Spirit of the Lord impatient?(D)
Are these the things he does?”
Don’t my words bring good(E)
to the one who walks uprightly?(F)
8 But recently my people have risen up
like an enemy:(G)
You strip off the splendid robe(H)
from those who are passing through confidently,(I)
like those returning from war.
9 You force(J) the women of my people
out of their comfortable homes,
and you take my blessing[c](K)
from their children forever.
10 Get up and leave,
for this is not your place of rest(L)
because defilement(M) brings destruction—
a grievous destruction!(N)
11 If a man comes
and utters empty lies(O)—
“I will preach to you about wine and beer”(P)—
he would be just the preacher for this people!(Q)
Micah 2:6-11
English Standard Version
6 (A)“Do not preach”—thus they preach—
(B)“one should not preach of such things;
(C)disgrace will not overtake us.”
7 Should this be said, O house of Jacob?
(D)Has the Lord grown impatient?[a]
Are these his deeds?
Do not my words do good
to him who walks uprightly?
8 But lately (E)my people have risen up as an enemy;
you strip the rich robe from those who pass by trustingly
with no thought of war.[b]
9 The women of my people you drive out
from their delightful houses;
from their young children you take away
my splendor forever.
10 (F)Arise and go,
for this is no (G)place to rest,
because of (H)uncleanness that destroys
with a grievous destruction.
11 If a man should go about and (I)utter wind and lies,
saying, “I will preach to you (J)of wine and strong drink,”
he would be the preacher for this people!

False Prophets
6 “Do not prophesy,” their prophets say.
“Do not prophesy about these things;
disgrace(A) will not overtake us.(B)”
7 You descendants of Jacob, should it be said,
“Does the Lord become[a] impatient?
Does he do such things?”
“Do not my words do good(C)
to the one whose ways are upright?(D)
8 Lately my people have risen up
like an enemy.
You strip off the rich robe
from those who pass by without a care,
like men returning from battle.
9 You drive the women of my people
from their pleasant homes.(E)
You take away my blessing
from their children forever.
10 Get up, go away!
For this is not your resting place,(F)
because it is defiled,(G)
it is ruined, beyond all remedy.
11 If a liar and deceiver(H) comes and says,
‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’(I)
that would be just the prophet for this people!(J)
