² And the nations will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess the nations^[a] as male and female slaves in the Lord’s land; they will take captive those who were their captors and rule over those who oppressed them.^(A)

Downfall of the King of Babylon

³ When the Lord has given you rest from your pain and turmoil and the hard service with which you were made to serve,^{(B) 4} you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon:

⁸ and will come out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, in order to gather them for battle; they are as numerous as the sands of the sea.^{(A) 9} They marched up over the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from heaven^[a] and consumed them.^(B)

¹³ He is clothed in a robe dipped in^[a] blood, and his name is called The Word of God.^{(A) 14} And the armies of heaven, wearing fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. ¹⁵ From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule^[b] them with a scepter of iron; he will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.^{(B) 16} On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”^(C)

The Beast and Its Armies Defeated

¹⁷ Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly in midheaven, “Come, gather for the great supper of God,^{(D) 18} to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and their riders—flesh of all, both free and slave, both small and great.”^{(E) 19} Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to wage war against the rider on the horse and against his army.^{(F) 20} And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed in its presence the signs by which he deceived those who had received the brand of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. ²¹ And the rest were killed by the sword of the rider on the horse, the sword that came from his mouth, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.^(A)
