¹⁰ He^[a] will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
    and the war horse from Jerusalem;
and the battle bow shall be cut off,
    and he shall command peace to the nations;
his dominion shall be from sea to sea
    and from the River to the ends of the earth.^(A)

³ Assyria shall not save us;
    we will not ride upon horses;
we will say no more, ‘Our God,’
    to the work of our hands.
In you the orphan finds mercy.”^(A)

⁷ Some take pride in chariots and some in horses,
    but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.^(A)
8 They will collapse and fall,
    but we shall rise and stand upright.^(B)

¹⁶ A king is not saved by his great army;
    a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.^(A)
17 The war horse is a vain hope for victory,
    and by its great might it cannot save.^(B)

²³ Truly the hills are^[a] a delusion,
    a tumult on the mountains.
Truly in the Lord our God
    is the salvation of Israel.^(A)

⁷ Their land is filled with silver and gold,
    and there is no end to their treasures;
their land is filled with horses,
    and there is no end to their chariots.^(A)
