2 at(A) huwag kayong makikipagtipan sa mga naninirahan sa lupaing ito; inyong wawasakin ang kanilang mga dambana.’ Ngunit hindi ninyo dininig ang aking utos. Ano itong ginawa ninyo?
3 Kaya't sinasabi ko ngayon, Hindi ko sila palalayasin sa harap ninyo; kundi sila'y magiging mga kalaban[a] ninyo, at ang kanilang mga diyos ay magiging bitag sa inyo.”
4 Nang sabihin ng anghel ng Panginoon ang mga salitang ito sa lahat ng mga anak ni Israel, inilakas ng bayan ang kanilang tinig at umiyak.

2 and you shall not make a covenant with the people of this land,(A) but you shall break down their altars.(B)’ Yet you have disobeyed(C) me. Why have you done this? 3 And I have also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you;(D) they will become traps(E) for you, and their gods will become snares(F) to you.’”
4 When the angel of the Lord had spoken these things to all the Israelites, the people wept aloud,(G)
