En glädjesång till Israels Gud
1-2 Herren gör oss starka! Jubla högt inför honom. Låt oss höja glädjerop till Israels Gud.
3 Stäm upp lovsång och slå på trummor. Spela på lyror och harpor.
4 Blås i trumpeter! Kom till våra glada fester vid fullmåne och nymåne.
5 Gud har gett oss dessa högtidsdagar. De finns nerskrivna i Israels lagar.
6 Redan då, när han kämpade mot egyptierna, gav han dessa lagar till sitt folk.Då hör jag en okänd röst som säger:
7 Nu ska jag befria er från denna börda! Ni ska få lägga ner er tunga last!
8 Ni ropade på mig när ni var i nöd, och jag frälste er. Jag svarade er från Sinais berg, mitt gömställe i stormen. Jag prövade er tro vid Meriba, när ni klagade över att det inte fanns något vatten.
9 Lyssna till mig, mitt folk, och ta emot mina varningar! Israel, om du bara ville lyssna!
10 Ni ska aldrig tillbe någon avgud eller ha främmande gudar ibland er.
11 För det var jag, Herren, er Gud, som ledde er ut ur Egypten. Pröva mig bara! Öppna er mun och se om jag inte kommer att fylla den.
12 Men nej, mitt folk lyssnar inte på mig. Israel vill inte ha med mig att göra.
13 Därför låter jag dem gå sina egna dåraktiga vägar och leva som de själva vill.
14 Tänk om mitt folk bara ville lyssna på mig! Tänk om Israel ville följa mig och vandra på mina vägar!
15 Tänk hur snabbt jag då skulle besegra deras fiender! Jag skulle på en gång krossa deras ovänner!
16 Ja, alla som hatar Herren måste böja sig ner i fruktan, och deras straff ska vara utan ände.
17 Men er skulle han låta skörda det finaste vete, och han skulle låta er få njuta av vildhonung.
Psalm 81
King James Version
81 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
15 The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

An Appeal for Israel’s Repentance
To the Chief Musician. (A)On[a] an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of Asaph.
81 Sing aloud to God our strength;
Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.
2 Raise a song and strike the timbrel,
The pleasant harp with the lute.
3 Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon,
At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.
4 For (B)this is a statute for Israel,
A law of the God of Jacob.
5 This He established in Joseph as a testimony,
When He went throughout the land of Egypt,
(C)Where I heard a language I did not understand.
6 “I removed his shoulder from the burden;
His hands were freed from the baskets.
7 (D)You called in trouble, and I delivered you;
(E)I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I (F)tested you at the waters of [b]Meribah. Selah
8 “Hear,(G) O My people, and I will admonish you!
O Israel, if you will listen to Me!
9 There shall be no (H)foreign god among you;
Nor shall you worship any foreign god.
10 (I)I am the Lord your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
(J)Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 “But My people would not heed My voice,
And Israel would have (K)none of Me.
12 (L)So I gave them over to [c]their own stubborn heart,
To walk in their own counsels.
13 “Oh,(M) that My people would listen to Me,
That Israel would walk in My ways!
14 I would soon subdue their enemies,
And turn My hand against their adversaries.
15 (N)The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him,
But their [d]fate would endure forever.
16 He would (O)have fed them also with [e]the finest of wheat;
And with honey (P)from the rock I would have satisfied you.”
