5 Voyant la foule, Jésus monta sur la montagne; et, après qu'il se fut assis, ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui.
2 Puis, ayant ouvert la bouche, il les enseigna, et dit:
3 Heureux les pauvres en esprit, car le royaume des cieux est à eux!
4 Heureux les affligés, car ils seront consolés!
5 Heureux les débonnaires, car ils hériteront la terre!
6 Heureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car ils seront rassasiés!
7 Heureux les miséricordieux, car ils obtiendront miséricorde!
8 Heureux ceux qui ont le coeur pur, car ils verront Dieu!
9 Heureux ceux qui procurent la paix, car ils seront appelés fils de Dieu!
10 Heureux ceux qui sont persécutés pour la justice, car le royaume des cieux est à eux!
11 Heureux serez-vous, lorsqu'on vous outragera, qu'on vous persécutera et qu'on dira faussement de vous toute sorte de mal, à cause de moi.
12 Réjouissez-vous et soyez dans l'allégresse, parce que votre récompense sera grande dans les cieux; car c'est ainsi qu'on a persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous.
13 Vous êtes le sel de la terre. Mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi la lui rendra-t-on? Il ne sert plus qu'à être jeté dehors, et foulé aux pieds par les hommes.
14 Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville située sur une montagne ne peut être cachée;
15 et on n'allume pas une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur le chandelier, et elle éclaire tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
16 Que votre lumière luise ainsi devant les hommes, afin qu'ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu'ils glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux.
17 Ne croyez pas que je sois venu pour abolir la loi ou les prophètes; je suis venu non pour abolir, mais pour accomplir.
18 Car, je vous le dis en vérité, tant que le ciel et la terre ne passeront point, il ne disparaîtra pas de la loi un seul iota ou un seul trait de lettre, jusqu'à ce que tout soit arrivé.
19 Celui donc qui supprimera l'un de ces plus petits commandements, et qui enseignera aux hommes à faire de même, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux; mais celui qui les observera, et qui enseignera à les observer, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux.
20 Car, je vous le dis, si votre justice ne surpasse celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.
21 Vous avez entendu qu'il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne tueras point; celui qui tuera mérite d'être puni par les juges.
22 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque se met en colère contre son frère mérite d'être puni par les juges; que celui qui dira à son frère: Raca! mérite d'être puni par le sanhédrin; et que celui qui lui dira: Insensé! mérite d'être puni par le feu de la géhenne.
23 Si donc tu présentes ton offrande à l'autel, et que là tu te souviennes que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi,
24 laisse là ton offrande devant l'autel, et va d'abord te réconcilier avec ton frère; puis, viens présenter ton offrande.
25 Accorde-toi promptement avec ton adversaire, pendant que tu es en chemin avec lui, de peur qu'il ne te livre au juge, que le juge ne te livre à l'officier de justice, et que tu ne sois mis en prison.
26 Je te le dis en vérité, tu ne sortiras pas de là que tu n'aies payé le dernier quadrant.
27 Vous avez appris qu'il a été dit: Tu ne commettras point d'adultère.
28 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter a déjà commis un adultère avec elle dans son coeur.
29 Si ton oeil droit est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi; car il est avantageux pour toi qu'un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps entier ne soit pas jeté dans la géhenne.
30 Et si ta main droite est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la et jette-la loin de toi; car il est avantageux pour toi qu'un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps entier n'aille pas dans la géhenne.
31 Il a été dit: Que celui qui répudie sa femme lui donne une lettre de divorce.
32 Mais moi, je vous dis que celui qui répudie sa femme, sauf pour cause d'infidélité, l'expose à devenir adultère, et que celui qui épouse une femme répudiée commet un adultère.
33 Vous avez encore appris qu'il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne te parjureras point, mais tu t'acquitteras envers le Seigneur de ce que tu as déclaré par serment.
34 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne jurer aucunement, ni par le ciel, parce que c'est le trône de Dieu;
35 ni par la terre, parce que c'est son marchepied; ni par Jérusalem, parce que c'est la ville du grand roi.
36 Ne jure pas non plus par ta tête, car tu ne peux rendre blanc ou noir un seul cheveu.
37 Que votre parole soit oui, oui, non, non; ce qu'on y ajoute vient du malin.
38 Vous avez appris qu'il a été dit: oeil pour oeil, et dent pour dent.
39 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne pas résister au méchant. Si quelqu'un te frappe sur la joue droite, présente-lui aussi l'autre.
40 Si quelqu'un veut plaider contre toi, et prendre ta tunique, laisse-lui encore ton manteau.
41 Si quelqu'un te force à faire un mille, fais-en deux avec lui.
42 Donne à celui qui te demande, et ne te détourne pas de celui qui veut emprunter de toi.
43 Vous avez appris qu'il a été dit: Tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi.
44 Mais moi, je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous maltraitent et qui vous persécutent,
45 afin que vous soyez fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il fait pleuvoir sur les justes et sur les injustes.
46 Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense méritez-vous? Les publicains aussi n'agissent-ils pas de même?
47 Et si vous saluez seulement vos frères, que faites-vous d'extraordinaire? Les païens aussi n'agissent-ils pas de même?
48 Soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père céleste est parfait.

Disciples and the World
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but (Q)if the salt has become tasteless, how [d]can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people.
14 “You are (R)the light of the world. A city set on a [e]hill cannot be hidden; 15 (S)nor do people light a lamp and put it under a [f]basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may (T)see your good works, and (U)glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 “Do not presume that I came to abolish the (V)Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, (W)until heaven and earth pass away, not [g]the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! 19 Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches [h]others to do the same, shall be called least (X)in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever [i]keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 “For I say to you that unless your (Y)righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Personal Relationships
21 “(Z)You have heard that [j]the ancients were told, ‘(AA)You shall not murder,’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be answerable to (AB)the court.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be answerable to (AC)the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘[k]You good-for-nothing,’ shall be answerable to [l](AD)the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the [m](AE)fiery hell. 23 Therefore, if you are (AF)presenting your [n]offering at the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your [o]offering there before the altar and go; first be (AG)reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your [p]offering. 25 [q](AH)Come to good terms with your accuser quickly, while you are with him on the way to court, so that your accuser will not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you will not be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I say to you, (AI)you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last [r]quadrans.
27 “(AJ)You have heard that it was said, ‘(AK)You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman (AL)with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 Now (AM)if your right eye is causing you to sin, tear it out and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, [s]than for your whole body to be thrown into [t](AN)hell. 30 And (AO)if your right hand is causing you to sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is better for you [u]to lose one of the parts of your body, [v]than for your whole body to go into [w](AP)hell.
31 “Now it was said, ‘(AQ)Whoever sends his wife away is to give her a certificate of divorce’; 32 (AR)but I say to you that everyone who [x]divorces his wife, except for the reason of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a [y]divorced woman commits adultery.
33 “Again, (AS)you have heard that [z]the ancients were told, ‘[aa](AT)You shall not [ab]make false vows, but shall fulfill your [ac]vows to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, (AU)take no oath at all, neither by heaven, for it is (AV)the throne of God, 35 nor by the earth, for it is the (AW)footstool of His feet, nor [ad]by Jerusalem, for it is (AX)the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you take an oath by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. 37 But make sure your statement is, ‘[ae]Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is [af]of (AY)evil origin.
38 “(AZ)You have heard that it was said, ‘(BA)Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, do not show opposition against an evil person; but (BB)whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other toward him also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your [ag]tunic, let him have your [ah]cloak also. 41 Whoever [ai]forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 (BC)Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
43 “(BD)You have heard that it was said, ‘(BE)You shall love your neighbor (BF)and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, (BG)love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may prove yourselves to be (BH)sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For (BI)if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors, do they not do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Even the Gentiles, do they not do the same? 48 Therefore (BJ)you shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Saligprisningarna
5 När Jesus såg folkskarorna, gick han upp på berget. Han satte sig ner, och hans lärjungar kom fram till honom. 2 Då började han tala och undervisa dem:
3 Saliga är de som är fattiga i anden,
dem tillhör himmelriket.
4 Saliga är de som sörjer,
de skall bli tröstade.
5 Saliga är de ödmjuka,
de skall ärva jorden.
6 Saliga är de som hungrar och törstar efter rättfärdighet,
de skall bli mättade.
7 Saliga är de barmhärtiga,
de skall få barmhärtighet.
8 Saliga är de renhjärtade,
de skall se Gud.
9 Saliga är de som skapar frid,
de skall kallas Guds barn.
10 Saliga är de som blir förföljda för rättfärdighetens skull,
dem tillhör himmelriket.
11 Saliga är ni, när människor hånar och förföljer er, ljuger och säger allt ont om er för min skull. 12 Gläd er och jubla, ty er lön är stor i himlen. På samma sätt förföljde man profeterna före er.
Jordens salt och världens ljus
13 Ni är jordens salt. Men om saltet förlorar sin sälta, hur skall man då göra det salt igen? Det duger bara till att kastas ut och trampas ner av människor. 14 Ni är världens ljus. Inte kan en stad döljas, som ligger på ett berg. 15 Inte heller tänder man ett ljus och sätter det under skäppan,[a] utan man sätter det på ljushållaren, så att det lyser för alla i huset. 16 Låt på samma sätt ert ljus lysa för människorna, så att de ser era goda gärningar och prisar er Fader i himlen.
Jesus och lagen
17 Tro inte att jag har kommit för att upphäva lagen eller profeterna. Jag har inte kommit för att upphäva utan för att fullborda. 18 Amen[b] säger jag er: Innan himmel och jord förgår, skall inte en enda bokstav,[c] inte en prick[d] i lagen[e] förgå, förrän allt har skett. 19 Den som därför upphäver ett av dessa minsta bud och lär människorna så, han skall kallas den minste i himmelriket. Men den som håller dem och lär människorna dem, han skall kallas stor i himmelriket. 20 Jag säger er att om er rättfärdighet inte går långt utöver de skriftlärdas och fariseernas, skall ni inte komma in i himmelriket.
Mord och vrede
21 Ni har hört att det är sagt till fäderna: Du skall inte mörda. [f] Den som mördar är skyldig inför domstolen. 22 Jag säger er:[g] Den som är vred på sin broder är skyldig inför domstolen, och den som säger till sin broder: Ditt dumhuvud, är skyldig inför Stora rådet, och den som säger: Din dåre, är skyldig och döms till det brinnande Gehenna.[h] 23 Därför, om du bär fram din gåva till altaret och där kommer ihåg att din broder har något emot dig, 24 så lämna din gåva framför altaret och gå först och försona dig med din broder, och kom sedan och bär fram din gåva. 25 Var angelägen om att göra upp med din motpart när du är med honom på vägen, så att din motpart inte överlämnar dig till domaren och domaren överlämnar dig till fångvaktaren och du blir kastad i fängelse. 26 Amen säger jag dig: Du slipper inte ut därifrån, förrän du har betalat till sista öret.
Äktenskapsbrott
27 Ni har hört att det är sagt: Du skall inte begå äktenskapsbrott. [i] 28 Jag säger er: Var och en som med begär ser på en kvinna har redan begått äktenskapsbrott med henne i sitt hjärta. 29 Om ditt högra öga förleder dig till synd, så riv ut det och kasta det ifrån dig! Det är bättre för dig att en av dina lemmar går förlorad än att hela din kropp kastas i Gehenna. 30 Och om din högra hand förleder dig till synd, så hugg av den och kasta den ifrån dig! Det är bättre för dig att en av dina lemmar går förlorad än att hela din kropp kommer till Gehenna.
31 Det är sagt: Den som skiljer sig från sin hustru skall ge henne skilsmässobrev. [j] 32 Jag säger er: Var och en som skiljer sig från sin hustru av något annat skäl än otukt, han blir orsak till att äktenskapsbrott begås med henne, och den som gifter sig med en frånskild kvinna begår äktenskapsbrott.
Ja och nej
33 Ni har vidare hört att det är sagt till fäderna: Du skall inte svära falskt [k] och: Du skall hålla din ed inför Herren. 34 Jag säger er: Ni skall inte alls svära - varken vid himlen, den är Guds tron, 35 eller vid jorden, den är hans fotpall, eller vid Jerusalem, det är den store Konungens stad. 36 Inte heller skall du svära vid ditt huvud, ty du kan inte göra ett enda hårstrå vitt eller svart. 37 Ert tal skall vara ja, ja, och nej, nej. Allt utöver det kommer från den onde.
Kärlek och inte vedergällning
38 Ni har hört att det är sagt: Öga för öga och tand för tand. [l] 39 Jag säger er: Stå inte emot den som är ond, utan om någon slår dig på den högra kinden, så vänd också den andra åt honom. 40 Om någon vill ställa dig inför rätta och ta din livklädnad,[m] så låt honom få din mantel också. 41 Om någon tvingar dig att gå med en mil, gå två mil med honom. 42 Ge åt den som ber dig, och vänd dig inte bort från den som vill låna av dig.
43 Ni har hört att det är sagt: Du skall älska din nästa [n] och hata din ovän.[o] 44 Jag säger er: Älska era ovänner och be för dem som förföljer er. 45 Då är ni er himmelske Faders barn. Han låter sin sol gå upp över onda och goda och låter det regna över rättfärdiga och orättfärdiga. 46 Ty om ni älskar dem som älskar er, vilken lön får ni för det? Gör inte publikaner det också? 47 Och om ni hälsar endast på era bröder, vad gör ni för märkvärdigt med det? Gör inte hedningar det också? 48 Var alltså fullkomliga, såsom er Fader i himlen är fullkomlig.

The Fulfillment of the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.(W) 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.(X) 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands(Y) and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.(Z)
Murder(AA)
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a](AB) and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry(AC) with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment.(AD) Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’[d] is answerable to the court.(AE) And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.(AF)
23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Adultery
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e](AG) 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.(AH) 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble,(AI) gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble,(AJ) cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Divorce
31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’[f](AK) 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.(AL)
Oaths
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath,(AM) but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’(AN) 34 But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all:(AO) either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;(AP) 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.(AQ) 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’;(AR) anything beyond this comes from the evil one.[g](AS)
Eye for Eye
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h](AT) 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.(AU) 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.(AV)
Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i](AW) and hate your enemy.’(AX) 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,(AY) 45 that you may be children(AZ) of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.(BA) 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?(BB) Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.(BC)
