Two Blind Men Healed

27 When Jesus departed from there, (A)two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, (B)“Son of David, have mercy on us!”

28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, (C)“See that no one knows it.” 31 (D)But when they had departed, they [a]spread the news about Him in all that [b]country.

A Mute Man Speaks

32 (E)As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed. 33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”

34 But the Pharisees said, (F)“He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.”

The Compassion of Jesus(G)

35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, (H)teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease [c]among the people. 36 (I)But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were [d]weary and scattered, (J)like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, (K)“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 (L)Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

At Iconium

14 Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the (A)Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and [a]poisoned their [b]minds against the brethren. Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, (B)who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and (C)wonders to be done by their hands.

But the multitude of the city was (D)divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the (E)apostles. And when a violent attempt was made by both the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, (F)to abuse and stone them, they became aware of it and (G)fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region. And they were preaching the gospel there.

Idolatry at Lystra

(H)And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. [c]Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, 10 said with a loud voice, (I)“Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked. 11 Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, (J)“The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” 12 And Barnabas they called [d]Zeus, and Paul, [e]Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. 13 Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, (K)intending to sacrifice with the multitudes.

14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, (L)they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out 15 and saying, “Men, (M)why are you doing these things? (N)We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from (O)these useless things (P)to the living God, (Q)who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, 16 (R)who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways. 17 (S)Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, (T)gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with (U)food and gladness.” 18 And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.

Stoning, Escape to Derbe

19 (V)Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, (W)they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be (X)dead. 20 However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Strengthening the Converts

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city (Y)and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, (Z)exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, (AA)“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” 23 So when they had (AB)appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed. 24 And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia. 25 Now when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. 26 From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.

27 Now when they had come and gathered the church together, (AC)they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had (AD)opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. 28 So they stayed there a long time with the disciples.

12 (A)Many bulls have surrounded Me;
Strong bulls of (B)Bashan have encircled Me.
13 (C)They [a]gape at Me with their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.

14 I am poured out like water,
(D)And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted [b]within Me.
15 (E)My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And (F)My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.

16 For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
(G)They[c] pierced My hands and My feet;
17 I can count all My bones.
(H)They look and stare at Me.
18 (I)They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.

19 But You, O Lord, do not be far from Me;
O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20 Deliver Me from the sword,
(J)My[d] precious life from the power of the dog.
21 (K)Save Me from the lion’s mouth
And from the horns of the wild oxen!

(L)You have answered Me.

22 (M)I will declare Your name to (N)My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 (O)You who fear the Lord, praise Him!
All you [e]descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But (P)when He cried to Him, He heard.

25 (Q)My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;
(R)I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.
26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the Lord.
Let your heart live forever!

27 All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the Lord,
And all the families of the [f]nations
Shall worship before [g]You.
28 (S)For the kingdom is the Lord’s,
And He rules over the nations.

29 (T)All the prosperous of the earth
Shall eat and worship;
(U)All those who go down to [h]the dust
Shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.

30 A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,
31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done this.

Jacob’s Last Words to His Sons

49 And Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather together, that I may (A)tell you what shall befall you (B)in the last days:

“Gather together and hear, you sons of Jacob,
And listen to Israel your father.

“Reuben, you are (C)my firstborn,
My might and the beginning of my strength,
The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.
Unstable as water, you shall not excel,
Because you (D)went up to your father’s bed;
Then you defiled it
He went up to my couch.

“Simeon and Levi are brothers;
Instruments of [a]cruelty are in their dwelling place.
(E)Let not my soul enter their council;
Let not my honor be united (F)to their assembly;
(G)For in their anger they slew a man,
And in their self-will they [b]hamstrung an ox.
Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
And their wrath, for it is cruel!
(H)I will divide them in Jacob
And scatter them in Israel.

“Judah,(I) you are he whom your brothers shall praise;
(J)Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
(K)Your father’s children shall bow down before you.
Judah is (L)a lion’s whelp;
From the prey, my son, you have gone up.
(M)He [c]bows down, he lies down as a lion;
And as a lion, who shall rouse him?
10 (N)The [d]scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor (O)a lawgiver from between his feet,
(P)Until Shiloh comes;
(Q)And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.
11 Binding his donkey to the vine,
And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine,
He washed his garments in wine,
And his clothes in the blood of grapes.
12 His eyes are darker than wine,
And his teeth whiter than milk.

13 “Zebulun(R) shall dwell by the haven of the sea;
He shall become a haven for ships,
And his border shall (S)adjoin Sidon.

14 “Issachar(T) is a strong donkey,
Lying down between two burdens;
15 He saw that rest was good,
And that the land was pleasant;
He bowed (U)his shoulder to bear a burden,
And became a band of slaves.

16 “Dan(V) shall judge his people
As one of the tribes of Israel.
17 (W)Dan shall be a serpent by the way,
A viper by the path,
That bites the horse’s heels
So that its rider shall fall backward.
18 (X)I have waited for your salvation, O Lord!

19 “Gad,(Y)[e] a troop shall [f]tramp upon him,
But he shall triumph at last.

20 “Bread from (Z)Asher shall be rich,
And he shall yield royal dainties.

21 “Naphtali(AA) is a deer let loose;
He uses beautiful words.

22 “Joseph is a fruitful bough,
A fruitful bough by a well;
His branches run over the wall.
23 The archers have (AB)bitterly grieved him,
Shot at him and hated him.
24 But his (AC)bow remained in strength,
And the arms of his hands were [g]made strong
By the hands of (AD)the Mighty God of Jacob
(AE)(From there (AF)is the Shepherd, (AG)the Stone of Israel),
25 (AH)By the God of your father who will help you,
(AI)And by the Almighty (AJ)who will bless you
With blessings of heaven above,
Blessings of the deep that lies beneath,
Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
26 The blessings of your father
Have excelled the blessings of my ancestors,
(AK)Up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills.
(AL)They shall be on the head of Joseph,
And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.

27 “Benjamin is a (AM)ravenous wolf;
In the morning he shall devour the prey,
(AN)And at night he shall divide the spoil.”

28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them. And he blessed them; he blessed each one according to his own blessing.

Jacob’s Death and Burial

29 Then he charged them and said to them: “I (AO)am to be gathered to my people; (AP)bury me with my fathers (AQ)in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 30 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, (AR)which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite as a possession for a burial place. 31 (AS)There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, (AT)there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah. 32 The field and the cave that is there were purchased from the sons of Heth.” 33 And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.
