and they (A)love the place of honor at feasts and (B)the best seats in the synagogues and (C)greetings in (D)the marketplaces and being called (E)rabbi[a] by others. (F)But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are (G)all brothers.[b] (H)And call no man your father on earth, for (I)you have one Father, who is in heaven. 10 Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, (J)the Christ. 11 (K)The greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 (L)Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

13 “But woe (M)to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you (N)shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you (O)neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.[c] 15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single (P)proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a (Q)child of (R)hell[d] as yourselves.

15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert,(H) and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell(I) as you are.
