Judging Others
7 (A)“Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 (B)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and (C)with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but (D)do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
6 (E)“Do not give (F)dogs what is holy, and do not throw your (G)pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.
Ask, and It Will Be Given
7 (H)“Ask, (I)and it will be given to you; (J)seek, and you will find; (K)knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for (L)bread, will give him (M)a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, (N)who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will (O)your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
The Golden Rule
12 “So (P)whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is (Q)the Law and the Prophets.
13 (R)“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and (S)the way is hard that leads to life, and (T)those who find it are few.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 (U)“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are (V)ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them (W)by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, (X)every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 (Y)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them (Z)by their fruits.
I Never Knew You
21 (AA)“Not everyone who (AB)says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will (AC)enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who (AD)does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 (AE)On that day (AF)many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not (AG)prophesy in your name, and cast out demons (AH)in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 (AI)And then will I declare to them, ‘I (AJ)never knew you; (AK)depart from me, (AL)you workers of lawlessness.’
Build Your House on the Rock
24 (AM)“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like (AN)a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like (AO)a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
The Authority of Jesus
28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, (AP)the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29 (AQ)for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Ask, Seek, Knock(D)
7 “Ask and it will be given to you;(E) seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;(F) and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts(G) to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,(H) for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.(I)
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate.(J) For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets.(K) They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.(L) 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.(M) Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?(N) 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.(O) 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.(P) 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’(Q) will enter the kingdom of heaven,(R) but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.(S) 22 Many will say to me on that day,(T) ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’(U) 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’(V)
The Wise and Foolish Builders(W)
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice(X) is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things,(Y) the crowds were amazed at his teaching,(Z) 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

3 Hví sér þú flísina í auga bróður þíns, en tekur ekki eftir bjálkanum í auga þínu?
4 Eða hvernig fær þú sagt við bróður þinn: ,Lát mig draga flísina úr auga þér?` Og þó er bjálki í auga sjálfs þín.
5 Hræsnari, drag fyrst bjálkann úr auga þér, og þá sérðu glöggt til að draga flísina úr auga bróður þíns.
6 Gefið ekki hundum það sem heilagt er, og kastið eigi perlum yðar fyrir svín. Þau mundu troða þær undir fótum, og þeir snúa sér við og rífa yður í sig.

13 Gangið inn um þrönga hliðið. Því að vítt er hliðið og vegurinn breiður, sem liggur til glötunar, og margir þeir, sem þar fara inn.
14 Hve þröngt er það hlið og mjór sá vegur, er liggur til lífsins, og fáir þeir, sem finna hann.
15 Varist falsspámenn. Þeir koma til yðar í sauðaklæðum, en innra eru þeir gráðugir vargar.
16 Af ávöxtum þeirra skuluð þér þekkja þá. Hvort lesa menn vínber af þyrnum eða fíkjur af þistlum?
17 Þannig ber sérhvert gott tré góða ávöxtu, en slæmt tré vonda.
18 Gott tré getur ekki borið vonda ávöxtu, ekki heldur slæmt tré góða ávöxtu.
19 Hvert það tré, sem ber ekki góðan ávöxt, verður upp höggvið og í eld kastað.
20 Af ávöxtum þeirra skuluð þér því þekkja þá.
21 Ekki mun hver sá, sem við mig segir: ,Herra, herra,` ganga inn í himnaríki, heldur sá einn, er gjörir vilja föður míns, sem er á himnum.
22 Margir munu segja við mig á þeim degi: ,Herra, herra, höfum vér ekki kennt í þínu nafni, rekið út illa anda í þínu nafni og gjört í þínu nafni mörg kraftaverk?`
23 Þá mun ég votta þetta: ,Aldrei þekkti ég yður. Farið frá mér, illgjörðamenn.`
24 Hver sem heyrir þessi orð mín og breytir eftir þeim, sá er líkur hyggnum manni, er byggði hús sitt á bjargi.
25 Nú skall á steypiregn, vatnið flæddi, stormar blésu og buldu á því húsi, en það féll eigi, því það var grundvallað á bjargi.
26 En hver sem heyrir þessi orð mín og breytir ekki eftir þeim, sá er líkur heimskum manni, er byggði hús sitt á sandi.

7 “Ayaw ninyo hukmi ang uban aron dili usab kamo hukman sa Dios. 2 Kay hukman kamo sa Dios sama sa paghukom ninyo sa uban. Ang basihanan nga inyong gamiton sa paghukom sa uban mao usab ang basihanan nga gamiton sa Dios kaninyo. 3 Nganong tan-awon man nimo pag-ayo ang gamay nga puling sa imong isigka-tawo, apan wala nimo tagda ang imong puling nga sama kadako sa troso? 4 Unsaon mo pag-ingon kaniya, ‘Igsoon, kuhaon ko ang imong puling,’ kon diha sa imong mata may puling usab nga morag troso kadako. 5 Tigpakaaron-ingnon! Kuhaa una ang imong puling nga morag troso kadako, aron makakita ka pag-ayo sa imong pagkuha sa gamay nga puling sa imong isigka-tawo.
6 “Ayaw ninyo ilabay ang mga butang nga may kalabotan sa Dios ngadto sa mga iro. Kay basin ug balikan nila kamo ug paakon. Ug ayaw ninyo ilabay ang inyong mga perlas ngadto sa mga baboy, kay tamak-tamakan lang nila kini.”[a]
