²¹ “^(A)Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

²⁸ and I give them ^(A)eternal life, and they will never perish; and ^(B)no one will snatch them out of My hand. ^29 [a]My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.

¹² So then, my beloved, ^(A)just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own ^(B)salvation with ^(C)fear and trembling;

¹⁰ For ^(A)the love of money is a root of all ^[a]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have ^(B)wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many ^[b]griefs.

⁶ Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who previously had good news preached to them failed to enter because of ^(A)disobedience, ⁷ He again sets a certain day, “Today,” saying ^[a]through David after so long a time just ^(B)as has been said before,

⁸ For ^(D)if ^[b]Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. ⁹ Consequently, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. ¹⁰ For the one who has entered His rest has himself also ^(E)rested from his works, as ^(F)God did from His. ¹¹ Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same ^(G)example of ^(H)disobedience.

⁴ For it is ^(A)impossible, in the case of those who have once been ^(B)enlightened and have tasted of ^(C)the heavenly gift and have been made ^(D)partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and ^(E)have tasted the good ^(F)word of God and the powers of ^(G)the age to come, ⁶ and then have ^[a]fallen away, to ^(H)restore them again to repentance, ^[b](I)since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

Christ or Judgment

²⁶ For if we go on ^(A)sinning willfully after receiving ^(B)the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ but a terrifying expectation of ^(C)judgment and ^(D)the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. ^28 (E)Anyone who has ignored the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. ^29 (F)How much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve ^(G)who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean ^(H)the blood of the covenant ^(I)by which he was sanctified, and has ^(J)insulted the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know Him who said, “^(K)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “^(L)The Lord will judge His people.” ³¹ It is a ^(M)terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the ^(N)living God.
