¹⁶ You will recognize them ^(A)by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ So, ^(B)every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. ¹⁸ A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. ^19 (C)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ Thus you will recognize them ^(D)by their fruits.

^21 (E)“Not everyone who ^(F)says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will ^(G)enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who ^(H)does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ^22 (I)On that day ^(J)many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not ^(K)prophesy in your name, and cast out demons ^(L)in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ ^23 (M)And then will I declare to them, ‘I ^(N)never knew you; ^(O)depart from me, ^(P)you workers of lawlessness.’
