¹¹ If you then, ^(A)who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will ^(B)your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

²⁰ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ^(A)ran and ^(B)embraced him and ^(C)kissed him. ²¹ And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. ^(D)I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’^{[a] 22} But the father said to his servants,^[b] ‘Bring quickly ^(E)the best robe, and put it on him, and put ^(F)a ring on his hand, and ^(G)shoes on his feet. ²³ And bring ^(H)the fattened calf and kill it, and ^(I)let us eat and celebrate. ²⁴ For this my son ^(J)was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

¹⁵ For ^(A)you did not receive ^(B)the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of ^(C)adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ^(D)“Abba! Father!”

¹⁵ from whom ^(A)every family^[a] in heaven and on earth is named,

3 See ^(A)what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called ^(B)children of God; and so we are. The reason why ^(C)the world does not know us is that ^(D)it did not know him.
