Lust

^27 (A)“You have heard that it was said, ^(B)‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ²⁸ But I say to you that ^(C)everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

^23 (A)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ^(B)you tithe mint and dill and ^(C)cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: ^(D)justice and mercy and faithfulness. ^(E)These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. ²⁴ You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing ^(F)a camel!

^25 (G)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ^(H)you clean the outside of ^(I)the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of ^(J)greed and self-indulgence. ²⁶ You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of ^(K)the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

^27 (L)“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like ^(M)whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and ^(N)all uncleanness. ²⁸ So you also ^(O)outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of ^(P)hypocrisy and lawlessness.

²³ You who ^(A)boast in the law ^(B)dishonor God by breaking the law. ²⁴ For, ^(C)as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed ^(D)among the Gentiles because of you.”

²⁵ For circumcision indeed is of value ^(E)if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. ²⁶ So, if ^(F)a man who is uncircumcised keeps ^(G)the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded^[a] as circumcision? ²⁷ Then he who is physically^[b] uncircumcised but keeps the law ^(H)will condemn you who have ^(I)the written code^[c] and circumcision but break the law. ²⁸ For ^(J)no one is a Jew ^(K)who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. ²⁹ But a Jew is one ^(L)inwardly, and ^(M)circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. ^(N)His praise is not from man but from God.
