¹⁴^(A)“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. ¹⁵^(B)Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. ¹⁶In the same way, let your light shine before others, so ^(C)that^[a] they may see your good works and ^(D)give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

60 ^(A)Arise, shine, for your light has come,
    and ^(B)the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
²For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
    and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
    and his glory will be seen upon you.
³^(C)And nations shall come to your light,
    and kings to the brightness of your rising.

⁴^(D)Lift up your eyes all around, and see;
they all gather together, they come to you;
^(E)your sons shall come from afar,
and your daughters shall be carried on the hip.
