¹³ “You are the salt of the earth; but ^(A)if the salt has become tasteless, how ^[a]can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

¹⁴ “You are ^(B)the light of the world. A city set on a ^[b]hill cannot be hidden; ^15 (C)nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a ^[c]basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may ^(D)see your good works, and ^(E)glorify your Father who is in heaven.

^58 (A)Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in ^(B)the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

¹² Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus ^(A)will be persecuted.

³ For ^(A)the time will come when they will not endure ^(B)sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, ⁴ and ^(C)will turn away their ears from the truth and ^(D)will turn aside to myths.
