¹¹ “Blessed are you when people insult you,^(A) persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.^{(B) 12} Rejoice and be glad,^(C) because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.^(D)

²⁰ Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’^[a](A) If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.^(B) If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

¹⁷ Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers,^(A) fear God, honor the emperor.^(B)

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,^(A)

²⁷ Indeed Herod^(A) and Pontius Pilate^(B) met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus,^(C) whom you anointed. ²⁸ They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.^{(D) 29} Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.^{(E) 30} Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders^(F) through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”^(G)

¹⁸ Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.^{(A) 19} But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him?^(B) You be the judges! ²⁰ As for us, we cannot help speaking^(C) about what we have seen and heard.”^(D)
