^10 (A)“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for ^(B)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

^11 (C)“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely ^(D)on my account. ^12 (E)Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for ^(F)so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

^35 (A)For I have come ^(B)to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ^36 (C)And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. ^37 (D)Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

¹³ Do not be surprised, brothers,^{[a] (A)}that the world hates you.

⁷ For the mind that is set on the flesh is ^(A)hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; ^(B)indeed, it cannot.

⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

²⁴ Then King Nebuchadnezzar was ^(A)astonished and rose up ^(B)in haste. He declared to his ^(C)counselors, “Did we not cast three men ^(D)bound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”

God of All Comfort

^3 (A)Blessed be the ^(B)God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and ^(C)God of all comfort, ^4 (D)who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For as we share abundantly in ^(E)Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.^[a]
