²³ Jesus was going ^(A)about in all of Galilee, ^(B)teaching in their synagogues and ^(C)proclaiming the ^[a]gospel of the kingdom, and ^(D)healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

²⁴ And the news about Him spread ^(E)throughout Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and severe pain, ^(F)demon-possessed, people with ^(G)epilepsy, and people who were ^(H)paralyzed; and He healed them. ²⁵ Large crowds ^(I)followed Him from Galilee and ^(J)the Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and from ^(K)beyond the Jordan.

5 ^(L)Now when Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on ^(M)the ^[b]mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. ² And ^(N)He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,

³ “^[c](O)Blessed are the poor in spirit, for ^(P)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁴ “Blessed are ^(Q)those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

⁵ “Blessed are ^(R)the ^[d]gentle, for they will inherit the earth.

⁶ “Blessed are ^(S)those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

⁷ “Blessed are ^(T)the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

⁸ “Blessed are ^(U)the pure in heart, for ^(V)they will see God.

⁹ “Blessed are the peacemakers, for ^(W)they will be called sons of God.

¹⁰ “Blessed are those who have been ^(X)persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for ^(Y)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

¹¹ “Blessed are you when people ^(Z)insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. ¹² Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for ^(AA)in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
