Avoid Israel’s Mistakes

10 For ^(A)I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that our fathers were all ^(B)under the cloud and they all ^(C)passed through the sea; ² and they all were ^(D)baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

¹¹ Now these things happened to them as an ^(A)example, and ^(B)they were written for our instruction, upon whom ^(C)the ends of the ages have come.

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were ^[a]pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “^[b]Brothers, ^(A)what are we to do?” ³⁸ Peter said to them, “^(B)Repent, and each of you be ^(C)baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. ³⁹ For ^(D)the promise is for you and your children and for all who are ^(E)far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

¹² But when they believed Philip ^(A)as he was preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were being ^(B)baptized. ¹³ Now even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed ^(C)signs and ^(D)great miracles taking place, he was repeatedly amazed.

^8 (A)Crispus, ^(B)the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord ^(C)together with his entire household; and many of the ^(D)Corinthians, as they listened to Paul, were believing and being baptized.

Unity of the Spirit

4 Therefore I, ^(A)the prisoner of the Lord, ^(B)urge you to ^(C)walk in a manner worthy of the ^(D)calling with which you have been ^(E)called, ² with all ^(F)humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another ^(G)in love, ³ being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the ^(H)bond of peace. ⁴ There is ^(I)one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one ^(J)hope of your calling; ^5 (K)one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all ^(L)who is over all and through all and in all.

⁵ so we, ^(A)who are many, are ^(B)one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another.

²⁵ so that there may be no ^[a]division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another.
