The Great Commission

¹⁶ Now the eleven disciples ^(A)went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. ¹⁷ And when they saw him they ^(B)worshiped him, but some doubted. ¹⁸ And Jesus came and said to them, ^(C)“All authority ^(D)in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ^19 (E)Go therefore and ^(F)make disciples of ^(G)all nations, ^(H)baptizing them ^(I)in^{[a] (J)}the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them ^(K)to observe all that ^(L)I have commanded you. And behold, ^(M)I am with you always, to ^(N)the end of the age.”

The Great Commission

¹⁴ Afterward ^(A)he appeared ^(B)to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their ^(C)unbelief and ^(D)hardness of heart, because ^(E)they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. ¹⁵ And he said to them, ^(F)“Go into all the world and ^(G)proclaim the gospel to ^(H)the whole creation. ^16 (I)Whoever believes and is ^(J)baptized ^(K)will be saved, but ^(L)whoever ^(M)does not believe will be condemned. ¹⁷ And ^(N)these signs will accompany those who believe: ^(O)in my name they will cast out demons; ^(P)they will speak in new tongues; ^18 (Q)they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; ^(R)they will lay their hands ^(S)on the sick, and they will recover.”

¹⁹ So then the Lord Jesus, ^(T)after he had spoken to them, ^(U)was taken up into heaven and ^(V)sat down at the right hand of God. ²⁰ And they went out and preached everywhere, while ^(W)the Lord worked with them and confirmed ^(X)the message ^(Y)by accompanying signs.]]

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, ^(A)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, ^(B)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” ⁴⁵ Then ^(C)he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, “Thus ^(D)it is written, ^(E)that the Christ should suffer and on the third day ^(F)rise from the dead, ⁴⁷ and that ^(G)repentance for^[a] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed ^(H)in his name ^(I)to all nations, ^(J)beginning from Jerusalem. ^48 (K)You are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And behold, I am sending ^(L)the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you ^(M)are clothed with ^(N)power ^(O)from on high.”

The Ascension

⁵⁰ And ^(P)he led them out as far as ^(Q)Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. ⁵¹ While he blessed them, ^(R)he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. ⁵² And they ^(S)worshiped him and ^(T)returned to Jerusalem ^(U)with great joy, ⁵³ and ^(V)were continually in the temple ^(W)blessing God.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

^19 (A)On the evening ^(B)of that day, the first day of the week, ^(C)the doors being locked where the disciples were ^(D)for fear of the Jews,^[a] Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ^(E)“Peace be with you.” ²⁰ When he had said this, ^(F)he showed them his hands and his side. Then ^(G)the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As ^(H)the Father has sent me, ^(I)even so I am sending you.” ²² And when he had said this, he ^(J)breathed on them and said to them, ^(K)“Receive the Holy Spirit. ^23 (L)If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
