38 (A)Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left.

39 And (B)those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads 40 and saying, (C)“You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! (D)If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the [a]scribes and elders, said, 42 “He (E)saved others; Himself He cannot save. [b]If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe [c]Him. 43 (F)He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

44 (G)Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.

11 Then David gave his son Solomon (A)the plans for the vestibule, its houses, its treasuries, its upper chambers, its inner chambers, and the place of the mercy seat; 12 and the (B)plans for all that he had by the Spirit, of the courts of the house of the Lord, of all the chambers all around, (C)of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries for the dedicated things; 13 also for the division of the priests and the (D)Levites, for all the work of the service of the house of the Lord, and for all the articles of service in the house of the Lord. 14 He gave gold by weight for things of gold, for all articles used in every kind of service; also silver for all articles of silver by weight, for all articles used in every kind of service; 15 the weight for the (E)lampstands of gold, and their lamps of gold, by weight for each lampstand and its lamps; for the lampstands of silver by weight, for the lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand. 16 And by weight he gave gold for the tables of the showbread, for each (F)table, and silver for the tables of silver; 17 also pure gold for the forks, the basins, the pitchers of pure gold, and the golden bowls—he gave gold by weight for every bowl; and for the silver bowls, silver by weight for every bowl; 18 and refined gold by weight for the (G)altar of incense, and for the construction of the chariot, that is, the gold (H)cherubim that spread their wings and overshadowed the ark of the covenant of the Lord. 19 “All this,said David, (I)“the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the [a]works of these plans.”

20 And David said to his son Solomon, (J)“Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. (K)He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 21 Here are (L)the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God; and (M)every willing craftsman will be with you for all manner of workmanship, for every kind of service; also the leaders and all the people will be completely at your command.”

16 Now when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard; but (A)Paul was permitted to dwell by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

Paul’s Ministry at Rome

17 And it came to pass after three days that Paul called the leaders of the Jews together. So when they had come together, he said to them: “Men and brethren, (B)though I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet (C)I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans, 18 who, (D)when they had examined me, wanted to let me go, because there was no cause for putting me to death. 19 But when the [a]Jews spoke against it, (E)I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything of which to accuse my nation. 20 For this reason therefore I have called for you, to see you and speak with you, because (F)for the hope of Israel I am bound with (G)this chain.”

21 Then they said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren who came reported or spoken any evil of you. 22 But we desire to hear from you what you think; for concerning this sect, we know that (H)it is spoken against everywhere.”

23 So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, (I)to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus (J)from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. 24 And (K)some were persuaded by the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved. 25 So when they did not agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had said one word: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to [b]our fathers, 26 saying,

(L)‘Go to this people and say:
“Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand;
And seeing you will see, and not perceive;
27 For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.” ’

28 “Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent (M)to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!” 29 [c]And when he had said these words, the Jews departed and had a great dispute among themselves.

30 Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, 31 (N)preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.
