³⁶ Then they sat down and ^(A)kept watch over him there.

^54 (A)When the centurion and those who were with him, ^(B)keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, ^(C)“Truly this was the Son^[a] of God!”

⁴⁴ Pilate was surprised to hear that he should have already died.^[a] And summoning ^(A)the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead.

^39 (A)And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he^[a] breathed his last, he said, ^(B)“Truly this man was the Son^[b] of God!”
