6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7 there came unto him a woman having [a]an alabaster cruse of exceeding precious ointment, and she poured it upon his head, as [b]he sat at meat. 8 But when the disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

6 While Jesus was in Bethany(C) in the home of Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked.
