³⁹ He went a little farther and fell on His face, and ^(A)prayed, saying, ^(B)“O My Father, if it is possible, ^(C)let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, ^(D)not as I will, but as You will.”

⁴² Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, ^[a]if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”

⁴⁴ So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

³⁷ They said to Him, “Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.”

³⁸ But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the ^(A)cup that I drink, and be baptized with the ^(B)baptism that I am baptized with?”

³⁶ And He said, ^(A)“Abba, Father, ^(B)all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; ^(C)nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”

⁵⁰ But ^(A)I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is ^(B)accomplished!

⁴² saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless ^(A)not My will, but Yours, be done.”

^10 (A)Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

¹¹ So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink ^(B)the cup which My Father has given Me?”

Judgment on the Nations

¹⁵ For thus says the Lord God of Israel to me: “Take this ^(A)wine cup of ^[a]fury from My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. ¹⁶ And ^(B)they will drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them.”

⁹ Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, ^(A)“If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his ^(B)mark on his forehead or on his hand, ¹⁰ he himself ^(C)shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is ^(D)poured out full strength into ^(E)the cup of His indignation. ^(F)He shall be tormented with ^(G)fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
