The Last Supper(A)(B)(C)

17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread,(D) the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”(E)

18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time(F) is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21 And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”(G)

22 They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”

23 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.(H) 24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him.(I) But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

25 Then Judas, the one who would betray him,(J) said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”(K)

Jesus answered, “You have said so.”

26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(L) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

27 Then he took a cup,(M) and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[a] covenant,(N) which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.(O) 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you(P) in my Father’s kingdom.”

10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve,(A) went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.(B) 11 They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

The Last Supper(C)(D)

12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb,(E) Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs,(F) furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”

16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”

19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”

20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me.(G) 21 The Son of Man(H) will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(I) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”

23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.(J)

24 “This is my blood of the[a] covenant,(K) which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”(L)

  1. Mark 14:24 Some manuscripts the new

14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles(A) reclined at the table.(B) 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.(C) 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”(D)

17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,(E) and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant(F) in my blood, which is poured out for you.[a] 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.(G) 22 The Son of Man(H) will go as it has been decreed.(I) But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

18 “I am not referring to all of you;(A) I know those I have chosen.(B) But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture:(C) ‘He who shared my bread(D) has turned[a](E) against me.’[b](F)

19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe(G) that I am who I am.(H) 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”(I)

21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit(J) and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”(K)

22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved,(L) was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”

25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”(M)

26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas,(N) the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.(O)

So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money,(P) some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival,(Q) or to give something to the poor.(R) 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.(S)
