³⁸ When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? ³⁹ When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

⁴⁰ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’^(A)

⁴¹ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me,^(B) you who are cursed, into the eternal fire^(C) prepared for the devil and his angels.^{(D) 42} For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, ⁴³ I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

⁴⁴ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

⁴⁵ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’^(E)

⁴⁶ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.^(F)”^(G)

¹⁴ Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.^{(A) 15} I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.^{(B) 16} Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master,^(C) nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. ¹⁷ Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.^(D)

²⁶ For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.^(A)

²⁷ So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.^{(B) 28} Everyone ought to examine themselves^(C) before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. ²⁹ For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. ³⁰ That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.^{(D) 31} But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.^{(E) 32} Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined^(F) so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.^(G)

³³ So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together. ³⁴ Anyone who is hungry^(H) should eat something at home,^(I) so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment.
