Parable of Ten Virgins

25 “Then ^(A)the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their ^(B)lamps and went out to meet the groom. ² Five of them were foolish, and five were ^(C)prudent.

¹⁰ But while they were ^[a]on their way to buy the oil, the groom came, and those who were ^(A)ready went in with him to ^(B)the wedding feast; and ^(C)the door was shut. ¹¹ Yet later, the other virgins also came, saying, ‘^(D)Lord, lord, open up for us.’ ¹² But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ ^13 (E)Be on the alert then, because you do not know the day nor the hour.

²⁹ “^(A)For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. ³⁰ And throw the worthless slave into ^(B)the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴⁵ Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for Me, either.’ ⁴⁶ These will go away into ^(A)eternal punishment, but the righteous into ^(B)eternal life.”
