^8 (A)But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are ^(B)all brothers.^{[a] 9 (C)}And call no man your father on earth, for ^(D)you have one Father, who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, ^(E)the Christ. ^11 (F)The greatest among you shall be your servant. ^12 (G)Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Anyone Not Against Us Is for Us

^38 (A)John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone ^(B)casting out demons in your name,^[a] and ^(C)we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” ³⁹ But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. ^40 (D)For the one who is not against us is for us.

⁶ I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,^[a] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may ^(A)be puffed up in favor of one against another. ⁷ For who sees anything different in you? ^(B)What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

⁸ Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you!

²¹ And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and ^(A)has anointed us,

²⁴ Not that we ^(A)lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm ^(B)in your faith.

¹⁸ With him we are sending^{[a] (A)}the brother who is famous among ^(B)all the churches for his preaching of the gospel. ¹⁹ And not only that, but he has been ^(C)appointed by the churches to travel with us as we carry out this act of ^(D)grace that is being ministered by us, ^(E)for the glory of the Lord himself and to show our good will.

³ since you seek proof that Christ ^(A)is speaking in me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but ^(B)is powerful among you.

⁵ Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. ^(A)Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that ^(B)Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! ⁶ I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. ⁷ But we pray to God that you may not do wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. ⁸ For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.

⁸ But even if we or ^(A)an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, ^(B)let him be accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, ^(C)let him be accursed.

¹⁰ For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying ^(D)to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a ^(E)servant^[a] of Christ.
