Matthew 23:30-24:15
English Standard Version
30 saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 Thus you witness against yourselves that you are (A)sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 (B)Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. 33 You serpents, (C)you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to (D)hell? 34 (E)Therefore (F)I send you (G)prophets and wise men and (H)scribes, (I)some of whom you will kill and crucify, and (J)some you will (K)flog in your synagogues and (L)persecute from town to town, 35 so that on you may come all (M)the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous (N)Abel to the blood of (O)Zechariah the son of Barachiah,[a] whom you murdered between (P)the sanctuary and (Q)the altar. 36 Truly, I say to you, (R)all these things will come upon this generation.
Lament over Jerusalem
37 (S)“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that (T)kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have (U)gathered (V)your children together (W)as a hen gathers her brood (X)under her wings, and (Y)you were not willing! 38 See, (Z)your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, (AA)‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple
24 (AB)Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. 2 But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, (AC)there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
Signs of the End of the Age
3 As he sat on (AD)the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him (AE)privately, saying, “Tell us, (AF)when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your (AG)coming and of (AH)the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered them, (AI)“See that no one leads you astray. 5 For (AJ)many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am (AK)the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you (AL)are not alarmed, for this (AM)must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For (AN)nation will rise against nation, and (AO)kingdom against kingdom, and there will be (AP)famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of (AQ)the birth pains.
9 “Then (AR)they will deliver you up (AS)to tribulation and (AT)put you to death, and (AU)you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will fall away[b] and (AV)betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many (AW)false prophets will arise (AX)and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, (AY)the love of many will grow cold. 13 (AZ)But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom (BA)will be proclaimed throughout the whole world (BB)as a testimony (BC)to all nations, and (BD)then the end will come.
The Abomination of Desolation
15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation (BE)spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in (BF)the holy place ((BG)let the reader understand),
