Matthew 22:34-40
International Standard Version
The Greatest Commandment(A)
34 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus[a] had silenced the Sadducees, they met together in the same place. 35 One of them, an expert in the Law, tested him by asking, 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus[b] told him, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the greatest and most important[d] commandment. 39 The second is exactly like it: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’[e] 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.”

The Greatest Commandment
34 Now when[a] the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they assembled at the same place.[b] 35 And one of them, a legal expert, put a question to him[c] to test him: 36 “Teacher, which commandment is greatest in the law?” 37 And he said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[d] 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[e] 40 On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.”
