The Triumphal Entry(A)
21 Now (B)when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to [a]Bethphage, at (C)the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
4 [b]All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
5 “Tell(D) the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
6 (E)So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, (F)laid their clothes on them, [c]and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; (G)others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
(H)‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”
10 (I)And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”
11 So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, (J)the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Jesus Cleanses the Temple(K)
12 (L)Then Jesus went into the temple [d]of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the (M)money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, (N)‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a (O)‘den of thieves.’ ”
14 Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the (P)Son of David!” they were [e]indignant 16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?”
And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,
(Q)‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have perfected praise’?”
17 Then He left them and (R)went out of the city to Bethany, and He lodged there.
The Fig Tree Withered(S)
18 (T)Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry. 19 (U)And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away.
The Lesson of the Withered Fig Tree(V)
20 (W)And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither away so soon?”
21 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, (X)if you have faith and (Y)do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, (Z)but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And (AA)whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Jesus’ Authority Questioned(AB)
23 (AC)Now when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and (AD)said, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?”
24 But Jesus answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things: 25 The (AE)baptism of (AF)John—where was it from? From heaven or from men?”
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 26 But if we say, ‘From men,’ we (AG)fear the multitude, (AH)for all count John as a prophet.” 27 So they answered Jesus and said, “We do not know.”
And He said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
The Parable of the Two Sons
28 “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my (AI)vineyard.’ 29 He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?”
They said to Him, “The first.”
Jesus said to them, (AJ)“Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you. 32 For (AK)John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; (AL)but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward [f]relent and believe him.
The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers(AM)
33 “Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner (AN)who planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower. And he leased it to vinedressers and (AO)went into a far country. 34 Now when vintage-time drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive its fruit. 35 (AP)And the vinedressers took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another. 36 Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did likewise to them. 37 Then last of all he sent his (AQ)son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, (AR)‘This is the heir. (AS)Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’ 39 (AT)So they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.
40 “Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers?”
41 (AU)They said to Him, (AV)“He will destroy those wicked men miserably, (AW)and lease his vineyard to other vinedressers who will [g]render to him the fruits in their seasons.”
42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures:
(AX)‘The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing,
And it is marvelous in our eyes’?
43 “Therefore I say to you, (AY)the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. 44 And (AZ)whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, (BA)it will grind him to powder.”
45 Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they [h]perceived that He was speaking of them. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they (BB)feared the multitudes, because (BC)they took Him for a prophet.

Untie them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them on immediately.” 4 Now (C)this [a]took place so that what was spoken through [b]the prophet would be fulfilled:
5 “(D)Say to the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold your King is coming to you,
Humble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them, 7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their cloaks on them; and He sat on [c]the cloaks. 8 Most of the crowd (E)spread their cloaks on the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them on the road. 9 Now the crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting,
“[d]Hosanna to the (F)Son of David;
(G)Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord;
[e]Hosanna (H)in the highest!”
10 When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds were saying, “This is (I)Jesus the prophet, from (J)Nazareth in Galilee.”
Cleansing the Temple
12 (K)And Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all those who were selling and buying on the temple grounds, and He overturned the tables of the (L)money changers and the seats of those who were selling (M)doves. 13 And He *said to them, “It is written: ‘(N)My house will be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a (O)den of robbers.”
14 And those who were blind and those who limped came to Him in the temple area, and (P)He healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple area, “[f]Hosanna to the (Q)Son of David,” they became indignant, 16 and they said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus *said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘(R)From the mouths of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself’?” 17 And He left them and went out of the city to (S)Bethany, and spent the night there.
The Barren Fig Tree
18 (T)Now in the early morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry. 19 And seeing a lone (U)fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves alone; and He *said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered.
20 Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and [g]asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?” 21 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, (V)if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And (W)whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive it all.”
Authority Challenged
23 (X)When He entered the temple area, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him (Y)while He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?” 24 But Jesus responded and said to them, “I will also ask you one [h]question, which, if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John was from what source: from heaven or from men?” And they began considering the implications among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ 26 But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the [i]people; for they all regard John as (Z)a prophet.” 27 And answering Jesus, they said, “We do not know.” He also said to them, “Neither am I telling you by what authority I do these things.
Parable of Two Sons
28 “But what do you think? A man had two [j]sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘[k]Son, go work today in the (AA)vineyard.’ 29 But he replied, ‘I do not want to.’ Yet afterward he regretted it and went. 30 And the man came to his second son and said the same thing; and he replied, ‘I will, sir’; and yet he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They *said, “The first.” Jesus *said to them, “Truly I say to you that (AB)the tax collectors and prostitutes [l]will get into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but (AC)the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even [m]have second thoughts afterward so as to believe him.
Parable of the Landowner
33 “Listen to another parable. (AD)There was a [n]landowner who (AE)planted a (AF)vineyard and put a [o]fence around it, and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and he leased it to [p]vine-growers and (AG)went on a journey. 34 And when the [q]harvest time approached, he (AH)sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his fruit. 35 And the vine-growers took his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again, he (AI)sent other slaves, more than the first; and they did the same things to them. 37 But afterward he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let’s kill him and take possession of his inheritance!’ 39 And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 Therefore, when the [r]owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine-growers?” 41 They *said to Him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and (AJ)lease the vineyard to other vine-growers, who will pay him the fruit in the proper seasons.”
42 Jesus *said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures,
‘(AK)A stone which the builders rejected,
This has become the [s]chief cornerstone;
This came about from the Lord,
And it is marvelous in our eyes’?
43 Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a [t]people producing its fruit. 44 And (AL)the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and on whomever it falls, it will crush him.”
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them. 46 And although they sought to arrest Him, they (AM)feared the crowds, since they considered Him to be a (AN)prophet.

Jesus entra em Jerusalém

21 Quando Jesus e seus discípulos se aproximavam da cidade de Jerusalém, chegaram a uma vila chamada Betfagé, no monte das Oliveiras. Dali Jesus enviou dois dos seus discípulos, 2 com as seguintes instruções:
—Sigam até a próxima vila que fica logo adiante e encontrarão presos uma jumenta e um jumentinho. Soltem os dois e tragam-nos até aqui. 3 Se alguém perguntar alguma coisa, digam o seguinte: “O Senhor precisa deles; ele logo os mandará de volta”.
4 Isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse o que o Senhor tinha dito por meio do profeta:
5 “Digam à cidade de Sião:
Olhem! O seu Rei está chegando!
Ele é humilde e está montado numa jumenta,
e num jumentinho, filho de animal de carga!”(A)
6 Os discípulos foram e fizeram exatamente o que Jesus lhes tinha dito, 7 levando a jumenta e o jumentinho. Jesus no templo

12 Quando Jesus entrou no templo, expulsou de lá todos os que compravam e vendiam coisas, e derrubou as mesas dos que trocavam dinheiro e as cadeiras dos que vendiam pombos. 13 Ele lhes disse:
—As Escrituras dizem: “Minha casa será chamada casa de oração”(C); vocês, porém, a transformaram num “esconderijo de ladrões”(D)!
14 Alguns cegos e coxos foram ao encontro de Jesus no templo, e ele os curou. 15 Quando os líderes dos sacerdotes e os professores da lei viram as maravilhas que Jesus tinha feito e também as crianças do templo gritando: “Glória ao Filho de Davi!”, 16 ficaram muito zangados, e lhe perguntaram:
—O senhor está escutando o que estas crianças estão dizendo?
E Jesus lhes respondeu:
—Sim. Vocês nunca leram as Escrituras que dizem:
“Ó Deus, o senhor ensinou
as crianças e os pequeninos
a dar louvores”(E)?
17 Depois, partindo dali, Jesus saiu da cidade de Jerusalém e se dirigiu à cidade de Betânia, onde passou a noite.
Jesus amaldiçoa uma figueira
(Mc 11.12-14,20-24)
18 No dia seguinte, bem cedo, quando Jesus estava voltando para a cidade de Jerusalém, teve fome. 19 Ao ver uma figueira à beira da estrada, ele foi até lá, mas não encontrou nada, a não ser as folhas. Então, disse para a árvore:
—Que você nunca mais dê frutos!
E no mesmo instante a figueira secou completamente. 20 Quando os seus discípulos viram aquilo, ficaram maravilhados e disseram:
—Como a figueira secou depressa!
21 Jesus, porém, lhes disse:
—Digo a verdade a vocês: Se acreditarem plenamente e não duvidarem, serão capazes de fazer não somente o que eu fiz a esta figueira, mas poderão até dizer a este monte: “Levante-se e jogue-se no mar!”, 22 e isso acontecerá. Se orarem a Deus acreditando que ele irá fazer o que vocês lhe pediram, então ele o fará.
A autoridade de Jesus
(Mc 11.27-33; Lc 20.1-8)
23 Jesus voltou para o templo e começou a ensinar. Os líderes dos sacerdotes e os líderes do povo, então, se aproximaram dele e lhe perguntaram:
—Por meio de que tipo de poder fazes estas coisas e quem te deu este poder?
24 E Jesus lhes respondeu:
—Eu vou lhes fazer uma pergunta. Se me responderem, eu também lhes responderei com que poder faço estas coisas. 25 Digam-me: De quem João Batista recebeu autorização para batizar: de Deus ou dos homens?
Então, discutindo entre si mesmos, diziam:
—Nós não podemos dizer que foi de Deus, porque senão ele nos perguntará: “Então por que vocês não acreditaram nele?” 26 Mas nós também não podemos dizer que foi dos homens. Temos medo do que o povo pode fazer, pois todos consideram João Batista um profeta.
27 Então lhe responderam:
—Não sabemos.
E Jesus lhes disse:
—Bem, então eu também não vou lhes dizer com que autoridade faço estas coisas.
A parábola dos dois filhos
28 —O que vocês acham disso? Um homem tinha dois filhos. Dirigindo-se ao mais velho, ele lhe disse: “Filho, vá trabalhar na vinha hoje”. 29 O rapaz respondeu: “Não quero ir”, mas, mais tarde, ele mudou de ideia e foi. 30 O homem, então, dirigindo-se ao filho mais novo, lhe disse a mesma coisa e este lhe respondeu: “Sim, senhor”, mas não foi. 31 Agora eu lhes pergunto: Qual dos dois fez a vontade do pai? E eles lhe responderam:
—O mais velho.
Jesus, então, lhes disse:
—Digo a verdade a vocês: Os coletores de impostos e as prostitutas entrarão no reino de Deus na frente de vocês. 32 Eu digo isto porque João Batista veio para mostrar a maneira certa de viver e vocês não acreditaram nele. Os cobradores de impostos e as prostitutas, no entanto, acreditaram nele. Vocês, porém, mesmo depois de terem visto que eles estavam aceitando a mensagem e mudando de vida, persistiram em não crer nele.
A parábola dos lavradores maus
(Mc 12.1-12; Lc 20.9-19)
33 —Escutem esta outra parábola: Certo homem, dono de um campo, plantou uvas e colocou uma cerca ao redor da plantação. Depois construiu um tanque, onde as uvas seriam amassadas, e uma torre. O homem, então, arrendou a vinha para alguns lavradores e foi viajar. 34 Quando chegou a época da colheita, o dono da vinha mandou servos até os lavradores a fim de receber a sua parte dos frutos. 35 Os lavradores, entretanto, bateram num, mataram outro e ainda apedrejaram um outro.
36 —O dono da vinha, então, numa segunda vez, enviou um número maior de servos, mas os lavradores fizeram a mesma coisa. 37 Por último, o dono da vinha enviou seu próprio filho, dizendo: “Ao meu filho eles respeitarão”. 38 Mas quando os lavradores viram o filho, disseram entre si: “Este é o herdeiro! Vamos matá-lo, pois assim poderemos nos apoderar da herança dele”. 39 E eles, então, o pegaram, o jogaram para fora da vinha e o mataram. 40 O que é que vocês acham que o dono da vinha irá fazer com aqueles lavradores quando ele chegar?
41 E eles, então, lhe responderam:
—Usará para com eles da mesma crueldade que usaram para com os outros e depois entregará a plantação de uvas a lavradores que lhe deem a sua parte da colheita no tempo certo.
42 Jesus, então, lhes perguntou:
—Vocês nunca leram o que as Escrituras dizem?
“A pedra que os construtores rejeitaram
veio a ser a pedra mais importante de todas.
Isso foi feito pelo Senhor,
