The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing [a]idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, [b]and whatever is right you will receive.’
8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they [c]complained against the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 (A)Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or (B)is your eye evil because I am good?’ 16 (C)So the last will be first, and the first last. (D)For[d] many are called, but few chosen.”
Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection(E)
17 (F)Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 (G)“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 (H)and deliver Him to the Gentiles to (I)mock and to (J)scourge and to (K)crucify. And the third day He will (L)rise again.”
Greatness Is Serving(M)
20 (N)Then the mother of (O)Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.
21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?”
She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine (P)may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”
22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink (Q)the cup that I am about to drink, [e]and be baptized with (R)the baptism that I am baptized with?”
They said to Him, “We are able.”
23 So He said to them, (S)“You will indeed drink My cup, [f]and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”
24 (T)And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet (U)it shall not be so among you; but (V)whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 (W)And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 (X)just as the (Y)Son of Man did not come to be served, (Z)but to serve, and (AA)to give His life a ransom (AB)for many.”
Two Blind Men Receive Their Sight(AC)
29 (AD)Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. 30 And behold, (AE)two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, (AF)Son of David!”
31 Then the multitude (AG)warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!”
32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” 34 So Jesus had (AH)compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like(A) a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.(B) 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.
“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.
“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 “When evening came,(C) the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble(D) against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat(E) of the day.’
13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend.(F) Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’(G)
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”(H)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(I)
17 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, 18 “We are going up to Jerusalem,(J) and the Son of Man(K) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.(L) They will condemn him to death 19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged(M) and crucified.(N) On the third day(O) he will be raised to life!”(P)
A Mother’s Request(Q)
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons(R) came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down,(S) asked a favor of him.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”(T)
22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup(U) I am going to drink?”
“We can,” they answered.
23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup,(V) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
24 When the ten heard about this, they were indignant(W) with the two brothers. 25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(X) 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man(Y) did not come to be served, but to serve,(Z) and to give his life as a ransom(AA) for many.”
Two Blind Men Receive Sight(AB)
29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David,(AC) have mercy on us!”
31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

“Anatulukanso nthawi ya 12 koloko masana, ndi nthawi ya 3 koloko masananso nachita chimodzimodzi. 6 Nthawi ya 5 koloko madzulo anatulukanso ndipo anapeza enanso atangoyimirira. Anawafunsa kuti, ‘Chifukwa chiyani mukungoyimirira pano tsiku lonse osagwira ntchito?’
7 “Iwo anayankha kuti, ‘Chifukwa palibe munthu amene watilemba ganyu.’
“Iye anawawuza kuti, ‘Inunso pitani mukagwire ntchito mʼmunda wanga wa mpesa.’
8 “Ndipo pofika madzulo, mwini munda wamphesa anayitana kapitawo wake nati, ‘Itana antchito ndipo uwapatse malipiro awo, kuyambira omalizira aja mpaka oyamba.’
9 “Antchito amene anawalemba ganyu pa 5 koloko masana anafika ndipo aliyense analandira dinari. 10 Ndipo atabwera kwa amene analembedwa poyamba anayembekezera kuti alandira zambiri. Koma aliyense wa iwo analandira dinari. 11 Atalandira, anayamba kuderera kwa mwini mundayo. 12 Iwo anati, ‘Anthu amene munawalemba pomalizira agwira ntchito ora limodzi, ndipo mwawafananitsa ndi ife amene tathyoka nayo ntchito ndi kutentha kwa dzuwa tsiku lonse.’
13 “Koma iye anamuyankha mmodzi wa iwo nati, ‘Bwenzi, ine sikuti sindinachite chilungamo. Kodi sunavomereze kuti ugwira ntchito ndi kulandira dinari? 14 Tenga malipiro ako pita. Ndikufuna kumupatsa munthu amene ndinamulemba pomaliza mofanana ndi mmene ndakupatsira iwe. 15 Kodi ndilibe ufulu wochita zimene ndikufuna ndi ndalama zanga? Kapena ukuyipidwa chifukwa ndine wopereka mowolowamanja?’
16 “Momwemo omalizira adzakhala oyamba ndipo oyamba adzakhala omalizira.”

17 Tsopano pamene Yesu ankapita ku Yerusalemu, anatengera pambali ophunzira ake khumi ndi awiriwo nati kwa iwo, 18 “Tikupita ku Yerusalemu, ndipo Mwana wa Munthu adzaperekedwa kwa akulu a ansembe ndi aphunzitsi amalamulo. Iwo adzamuweruza kuti aphedwe, 19 ndipo adzamupereka kwa anthu a mitundu ina kuti amunyoze ndi kumukwapula ndi kumupachika. Pa tsiku lachitatu adzaukitsidwa!”

20 Amayi a ana a Zebedayo anabwera ndi ana ake kwa Yesu, nagwada pansi namupempha Iye.
21 Yesu anawafunsa kuti, “Mukufuna chiyani?”
Amayiwo anati, “Lolani kuti ana anga awiriwa adzakhale mmodzi ku dzanja lanu lamanja ndi wina ku dzanja lanu lamazere mu ufumu wanu.”
22 Yesu anawawuza kuti, “Simukudziwa chimene mukupempha. Kodi mungathe kumwera chikho chimene ndidzamwera Ine?”
Iwo anayankha nati, “Inde tingathe.”
23 Yesu anawawuza kuti, “Zoonadi mudzamwera chikho changa, koma kuti mudzakhale ku dzanja langa lamanja kapena lamazere si kwa Ine kupereka. Malo awa ndi a iwo amene anakonzeredweratu ndi Atate anga.”
24 Ophunzira khumi aja, anawapsera mtima abale awiriwo. 25 Yesu anawayitana onse pamodzi nati, “Mukudziwa kuti olamulira a mitundu ina ali ndi mphamvu pa iwo, ndipo akuluakulu awo amawalamulira. 26 Siziyenera kutero ndi inu. Mʼmalo mwake, aliyense amene akufuna kukhala wamkulu pakati panu akhale wotumikira wanu. 27 Ndipo aliyense amene akufuna kukhala woyamba akhale kapolo wanu. 28 Momwenso Mwana wa Munthu sanabwere kudzatumikiridwa, koma kudzatumikira, ndi kupereka moyo wake kukhala dipo la anthu ambiri.”
Yesu Achiritsa Anthu Awiri Osaona
29 Pamene Yesu ndi ophunzira ake ankachoka ku Yeriko, gulu lalikulu la anthu linawatsata. 30 Amuna awiri osaona anakhala mʼmbali mwa msewu, ndipo pamene anamva kuti Yesu akudutsa anafuwula kuti, “Ambuye, Mwana wa Davide, tichitireni chifundo!”
31 Gulu la anthulo linawadzudzula iwo ndi kuwawuza kuti akhale chete, koma anafuwulitsabe kuti, “Ambuye, Mwana wa Davide, tichitireni chifundo!”
32 Yesu anayima ndi kuwayitana ndipo anawafunsa kuti, “Mukufuna ndikuchitireni chiyani?”
33 Anamuyankha nati, “Ambuye, tikufuna tione!”
34 Yesu anamva nawo chifundo ndipo anakhudza maso awo. Nthawi yomweyo anaona namutsata Iye.
