20 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,
12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,
18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Parábola de los viñadores
20 »Así mismo el reino de los cielos se parece a un propietario que salió de madrugada a contratar obreros para su viñedo. 2 Acordó darles la paga de un día de trabajo[a] y los envió a su viñedo. 3 Cerca de las nueve de la mañana,[b] salió y vio a otros que estaban desocupados en la plaza. 4 Les dijo: “Id también vosotros a trabajar en mi viñedo, y os pagaré lo que sea justo”. 5 Así que fueron. Salió de nuevo a eso del mediodía y a la media tarde, e hizo lo mismo. 6 Alrededor de las cinco de la tarde, salió y encontró a otros más que estaban sin trabajo. Les preguntó: “¿Por qué habéis estado aquí desocupados todo el día?” 7 “Porque nadie nos ha contratado”, contestaron. Les dijo: “Id también vosotros a trabajar en mi viñedo”.
8 »Al atardecer, el dueño del viñedo ordenó a su capataz: “Llama a los obreros y págales su jornal, comenzando por los últimos contratados hasta llegar a los primeros”. 9 Se presentaron los obreros que habían sido contratados cerca de las cinco de la tarde, y cada uno recibió la paga de un día. 10 Por eso, cuando llegaron los que fueron contratados primero, esperaban que recibirían más. Pero cada uno de ellos recibió también la paga de un día. 11 Al recibirla, comenzaron a murmurar contra el propietario. 12 “Estos que fueron los últimos en ser contratados trabajaron una sola hora —dijeron—, y los has tratado como a nosotros que hemos soportado el peso del trabajo y el calor del día”. 13 Pero él contestó a uno de ellos: “Amigo, no estoy cometiendo ninguna injusticia contigo. ¿Acaso no aceptaste trabajar por esa paga? 14 Tómala y vete. Quiero darle al último obrero contratado lo mismo que te di a ti. 15 ¿Es que no tengo derecho a hacer lo que quiera con mi dinero? ¿O te da envidia de que yo sea generoso?”[c]
16 »Así que los últimos serán primeros, y los primeros, últimos».
Jesús predice de nuevo su muerte(A)
17 Mientras subía Jesús rumbo a Jerusalén, tomó aparte a los doce discípulos y les dijo: 18 «Ahora vamos rumbo a Jerusalén, y el Hijo del hombre será entregado a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a los maestros de la ley. Ellos lo condenarán a muerte 19 y lo entregarán a los gentiles para que se burlen de él, lo azoten y lo crucifiquen. Pero al tercer día resucitará».
La petición de una madre(B)
20 Entonces la madre de Jacobo y de Juan,[d] junto con ellos, se acercó a Jesús y, arrodillándose, le pidió un favor.
21 ―¿Qué quieres? —le preguntó Jesús.
―Ordena que en tu reino uno de estos dos hijos míos se siente a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda.
22 ―No sabéis lo que estáis pidiendo —les replicó Jesús—. ¿Podéis acaso beber el trago amargo de la copa que yo voy a beber?
―Sí, podemos.
23 ―Ciertamente beberéis de mi copa —les dijo Jesús—, pero el sentaros a mi derecha o a mi izquierda no me corresponde concederlo. Eso ya lo ha decidido[e] mi Padre.
24 Cuando lo oyeron los otros diez, se indignaron contra los dos hermanos. 25 Jesús los llamó y les dijo:
―Como sabéis, los gobernantes de las naciones oprimen a los súbditos, y los altos oficiales abusan de su autoridad. 26 Pero entre vosotros no debe ser así. Al contrario, el que quiera hacerse grande entre vosotros deberá ser vuestro servidor, 27 y el que quiera ser el primero deberá ser esclavo de los demás; 28 así como el Hijo del hombre no vino para que le sirvan, sino para servir y para dar su vida en rescate por muchos.
Dos ciegos reciben la vista(C)
29 Una gran multitud seguía a Jesús cuando él salía de Jericó con sus discípulos. 30 Dos ciegos que estaban sentados junto al camino, al oír que pasaba Jesús, gritaron:
―¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten compasión de nosotros!
31 La multitud los reprendía para que se callaran, pero ellos gritaban con más fuerza:
―¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten compasión de nosotros!
32 Jesús se detuvo y los llamó.
―¿Qué queréis que haga por vosotros?
33 ―Señor, queremos recibir la vista.
34 Jesús se compadeció de ellos y les tocó los ojos. Al instante recobraron la vista y lo siguieron.

Laborers in the Vineyard
20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius[a] a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ 5 So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. 6 And (A)about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’ 8 And (B)when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his (C)foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’ 9 And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and (D)the scorching heat.’ 13 But he replied to one of them, (E)‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take (F)what belongs to you and go. Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time
17 (J)And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, 18 “See, (K)we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will (L)condemn him to death 19 and (M)deliver him over to the Gentiles (N)to be mocked and flogged and (O)crucified, and he will be raised on (P)the third day.”
A Mother's Request
20 (Q)Then (R)the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and (S)kneeling before him she asked him for something. 21 And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine (T)are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, (U)in your kingdom.” 22 Jesus answered, (V)“You do not know what you are asking. Are you able (W)to drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” 23 He said to them, (X)“You will drink (Y)my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, (Z)but it is for those for whom it has been (AA)prepared by my Father.” 24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said, (AB)“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles (AC)lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 (AD)It shall not be so among you. Jesus Heals Two Blind Men
29 (AH)And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him. 30 And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord,[e] have mercy on us, (AI)Son of David!” 31 The crowd (AJ)rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 32 And stopping, Jesus called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” 33 They said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” 34 And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him.
