Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection(A)
17 (B)Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 (C)“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 (D)and deliver Him to the Gentiles to (E)mock and to (F)scourge and to (G)crucify. And the third day He will (H)rise again.”
Greatness Is Serving(I)
20 (J)Then the mother of (K)Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.
21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?”
She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine (L)may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”
22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink (M)the cup that I am about to drink, [a]and be baptized with (N)the baptism that I am baptized with?”
They said to Him, “We are able.”
23 So He said to them, (O)“You will indeed drink My cup, [b]and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”

Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper(A)
26 (B)And as they were eating, (C)Jesus took bread, [a]blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; (D)this is My body.”
27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, (E)“Drink from it, all of you. 28 For (F)this is My blood (G)of the [b]new covenant, which is shed (H)for many for the [c]remission of sins. 29 But (I)I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on (J)until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
30 (K)And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(L)
31 Then Jesus said to them, (M)“All of you will (N)be [d]made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:
(O)‘I will strike the Shepherd,
And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 But after I have been raised, (P)I will go before you to Galilee.”
33 Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are [e]made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”
34 Jesus said to him, (Q)“Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!”
And so said all the disciples.
The Prayer in the Garden(R)
36 (S)Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and (T)the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, (U)“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and (V)prayed, saying, (W)“O My Father, if it is possible, (X)let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, (Y)not as I will, but as You will.”
40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 (Z)Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. (AA)The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, [f]if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour [g]is at hand, and the Son of Man is being (AB)betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

The Soldiers Mock Jesus(A)
27 (B)Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the [a]Praetorium and gathered the whole [b]garrison around Him. 28 And they (C)stripped Him and (D)put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 (E)When they had [c]twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 Then (F)they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. 31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, (G)and led Him away to be crucified.
The King on a Cross(H)
32 (I)Now as they came out, (J)they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His cross. 33 (K)And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, 34 (L)they gave Him [d]sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink.
35 (M)Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, [e]that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet:
(N)“They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.”
36 (O)Sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. 37 And they (P)put up over His head the accusation written against Him:
THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 (Q)Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left.
