The Transfiguration
17 (A)And after six days Jesus took with him (B)Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was (C)transfigured before them, and (D)his face shone like the sun, and (E)his clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for (F)Elijah.” 5 He was still speaking when, behold, (G)a bright cloud overshadowed them, and (H)a voice from the cloud said, (I)“This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased; (J)listen to him.” 6 When (K)the disciples heard this, (L)they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and (M)touched them, saying, “Rise, and (N)have no fear.” 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
9 (O)And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, (P)“Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” 10 And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say (Q)that first Elijah must come?” 11 He answered, “Elijah does come, and (R)he will restore all things. 12 But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but (S)did to him whatever they pleased. (T)So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” 13 (U)Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
Jesus Heals a Boy with a Demon
14 (V)And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him, 15 said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he has (W)seizures and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16 And I brought him to your disciples, and (X)they could not heal him.” 17 And Jesus answered, “O faithless and (Y)twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? (Z)How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18 And Jesus (AA)rebuked the demon,[b] and it[c] came out of him, and (AB)the boy was healed instantly.[d] 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 He said to them, (AC)“Because of your little faith. For (AD)truly, I say to you, (AE)if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, (AF)you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and (AG)nothing will be impossible for you.”[e]
Jesus Again Foretells Death, Resurrection
22 (AH)As they were gathering[f] in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised on (AI)the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.
The Temple Tax
24 (AJ)When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of (AK)the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” 25 He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, (AL)“What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or (AM)tax? From their sons or from others?” 26 And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. 27 However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel.[g] Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.”

17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

La transfiguración
17 Seis días después, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Jacobo y a Juan su hermano, y los hizo subir aparte a un monte alto. 2 Y fue transfigurado delante de ellos. Su cara resplandeció como el sol, y sus vestiduras se hicieron blancas como la luz. 3 Y he aquí les aparecieron Moisés y Elías hablando con él.
4 Entonces intervino Pedro y le dijo a Jesús:
—Señor, bueno es que nosotros estemos aquí. Si quieres, yo levantaré aquí tres enramadas: una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías.
5 Mientras él aún hablaba, de pronto una nube brillante les hizo sombra, y he aquí salió una voz de la nube diciendo: “Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien tengo complacencia. A él oigan”.
6 Al oír esto, los discípulos se postraron sobre su rostro y temieron en gran manera. 7 Entonces Jesús se acercó, los tocó y les dijo:
—Levántense y no teman.
8 Y cuando ellos alzaron los ojos no vieron a nadie sino a Jesús mismo, solo.
9 Mientras ellos descendían del monte, Jesús les mandó, diciendo:
—No mencionen la visión a nadie, hasta que el Hijo del Hombre resucite de entre los muertos.
10 Entonces los discípulos le preguntaron diciendo:
—¿Por qué dicen los escribas que es necesario que Elías venga primero?
11 Y respondiendo dijo:
—A la verdad, Elías viene y restaurará todas las cosas. 12 Pero yo les digo que Elías ya vino, y no lo reconocieron; más bien, hicieron con él todo lo que quisieron. Así también el Hijo del Hombre ha de padecer de ellos.
13 Entonces los discípulos entendieron que les hablaba de Juan el Bautista.
Jesús sana a un muchacho
14 Cuando llegaron a la multitud, vino a él un hombre y se arrodilló delante de él, 15 diciendo:
—¡Señor, ten misericordia de mi hijo, que es lunático y padece gravemente! Pues muchas veces cae en el fuego, y muchas veces en el agua. 16 Lo traje a tus discípulos, y no lo pudieron sanar.
17 Jesús respondió y dijo:
—¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo estaré con ustedes? ¿Hasta cuándo los soportaré? ¡Tráiganmelo acá!
18 Jesús le reprendió, y el demonio salió de él; y el niño fue sanado desde aquella hora. 19 Luego, los discípulos se acercaron en privado a Jesús y le dijeron:
—¿Por qué no pudimos nosotros echarlo fuera?
20 Jesús les dijo:
—Por causa de la poca fe de ustedes. Porque de cierto les digo que si tienen fe como un grano de mostaza, dirían a este monte: “Pásate de aquí, allá”; y se pasará. Nada les será imposible. 21 [a]
Jesús vuelve a anunciar su muerte
22 Estando ellos reunidos en Galilea, Jesús les dijo: “El Hijo del Hombre ha de ser entregado en manos de hombres, 23 y lo matarán. Pero al tercer día resucitará”. Y ellos se entristecieron en gran manera.
Jesús paga el impuesto del templo
24 Cuando ellos llegaron a Capernaúm, fueron a Pedro los que cobraban el impuesto del templo y le dijeron:
—¿Su maestro no paga el impuesto del templo?
25 Él dijo:
—Sí.
Al entrar en casa, Jesús le habló primero diciendo:
—¿Qué te parece, Simón? Los reyes de la tierra, ¿de quiénes cobran los tributos o los impuestos? ¿De sus hijos o de otros?
26 Pedro le dijo:
—De otros.
Jesús le dijo:
—Luego, los hijos están libres de obligación. 27 Pero, para que no los ofendamos, ve al mar, echa el anzuelo, y el primer pez que suba, tómalo. Cuando abras su boca, hallarás una moneda. Tómala y dásela a ellos por mí y por ti.
